They're special edition album and CD has already sold out on Amazon through preorders. I will only listen to them via CD in the car as I loathe hearing them compressed via streaming. I was able to find and preorder it at this site... https://www.deepdiscount.com/
Yeah I dig it. Hoping for big things from this album. I like Tool quite a bit, but they’ve been playing sound alike for quite a while. This track is just different enough for me.
So drum centered, heavy on the guitar and bass and mellow Maynard. I ****ing cant wait to hear this trip, and love how they progress and dont stay with the same formula. "Tool sucks cause Maynard doesnt scream anymore" posts make me lulz. Real Tool fans get it. And love it. Every album is a story and a 90 minute trip, they're not made to do singles. Go enjoy Korn. I mean nothing wrong with Korn, but like...yeah
People really complaining on Maynard/Tool vs Davis/Korn? I'll take both releasing new music and any other rock/metal/industrial type band, unfortunately new artists really haven't impressed me like the ones from 70-90s. My only complaint on Tool is the time since their last album, because it means less Tool music, but... With that said I'll wait patiently and will definitely have it day one. On a side note, Tool I expected to have staying power assuming they wanted to continue, but honestly Korn has been impressive as of late. I mean Tool is approaching 30 years and Korn is at like 25 now. Pretty great for both bands, and Korn has definitely changed as well. I really don't get the hate between the fans, I just want more music.
I still enjoy Korn, wasn't trying to bust balls. I guess the Twitter wars over the albums being released got in me. Just two different kinds of bands. It just makes me smh when people say Tool isn't good anymore since no more yelling. That's not what they're about but whateves. I get the transition and love it. I'm not arguing music as everyone has their own tastes and I respect that. Jonathan can still put on a good damn show still, no doubt.
Also, I love the new Slipknot album, but the maggots hate it. It's just strange to me that people dont enjoy a band evolving instead of making the same album over and over.
The new Slipknot album is awesome, definitely agree with you, some of the tracks really caught me by surprise, but in a good way. Oh also, I didn't think you were busting balls, I just meant in general when fans state something about a band changing vs some other band (that if they have staying power most likely has changed over time too). I mean I've seen the same junk on social media/forums said about NIN changing. Like did people really think Trent was still going to do repeats of PHM/Spiral forever? I'm glad he didn't. This year has been a pretty great year for new rock, I mean Tool releasing a new album alone is awesome in any year but these other bands from the 90s are sounding great too. On a side note, I was able to see Korn/AIC tour this year (both still great live), hoping to get Slipknot tickets and then hopefully catch Tool when they do a bigger tour. Tool has still been doing shows but a bigger tour would make it easier to see them I think. Oh and, yes, I definitely smh too, when people are saying Tool/Maynard aren't good any longer, but yet when their new single hits it gets millions of views/streams on yt (and now streaming sites too), and then people are taking the time to complain, hahah, like as they're probably relistening to the new single or have already pre-ordered the entire album.
So, are they going to release this on just a normal CD that's less than $15? Or are my choices not listening to it (I don't do streaming) or pay $45 for some over the top packaging I'll probably look at one time? 30+ years ago I could just simply buy an album to own for a reasonable price. How is this progress? Oh, and one more thing... Spoiler
While I totally understand, and I'm sure I've said something similar, it is kind of funny that you won't listen to their music in compressed form, but you insist on listening to them in that ultimate audiophile environment of a..........car.
Yeah, I have to drive to work as does 95% of Houston and I'm burnt out on podcasts. You really owned me. I did put 8k into the stereo though. My 14 MB Quart Speakers do sound much better than the stock the **** stock Harmon Kardons. Still though, props on punking me so hard. Great message boarding.
Man, totally agree with you on stereo. I used to be big into car audio when I commuted more, now mainly just at home. With your system you might want to try LPs again... I know it's backwards but a lot of albums fall into stupid loudness wars post production. Typically cd's from 80-92 or so are the best versions, after that it's typically vinyl since the studio usually won't boost the levels after production on the vinyl - so less distortion and it sounds better and can play loud if you want with like no distortion. I'll typically record LP to FLAC to digitize it and then won't have to deal with the whole pulling out the vinyl unless I want to. And then move uncompressed file to format for the car (so cd or plain flac depending). I don't know how much you're into it, but with that setup you have some of these newer vinyls sound a ton better. I use this site typically to find the best dynamic range: http://dr.loudness-war.info/ and get that version. And so far, with a good enough stereo there's a clear difference in clarity/less distortion. The best examples I've heard/seen are the fragile CD vs Vinyl and slipknot vol 3. (The LP is near double and it's clear, unfortunately it's a bit rare and too much to buy). There's a ton others to look up there. With that said, iirc Tool does a pretty good job on some of their cds, so I am not set yet on which version I'll get. If crazy record execs didn't go crazy on loudness wars - cds would certainly be the best version to buy, but now I'm having to record the vinyl and then burn to a cd... Thank you music industry!!!
Happy TOOL day! The CD is out on the truck for delivery. The wife and I wait to spin it later tonight on the home theater system. Lights down, and libations.
