Dude, I don't know what your problem is: I have National Hot Dog Day tatooed on my forearm, so I don't forget. Obligatory pic of Alexandra Daddario on her way to eating a hotdog
It's National Dog Day? I had no idea. Thanks, heypartner. I'll have to give our pup a special treat. I've been looking online for an image of a blonde Labradoodle that looks like our girl and this is as close as I could find. Our 5 year old is better looking, but this one is a beautiful dog that comes close. I have some great pictures of her, but don't know how to post them anonymously, or I would. This is the second Labradoodle I've had and she's a big female. 75 pounds! The first one was a black male, half Standard Poodle and half black Lab, that I got at the pound in Houston in 1972 for $10. He didn't shed. The word "Labradoodle" hadn't even been invented at the time, as far as I know. Smartest dog I've ever had and a chick magnet who loved to do tricks at parties, but the female we have now comes in second. They are truly great dogs. A good one has the best qualities of both breeds. Happy National Dog Day, Zoe!
I co-sign Labradoodles as well...mine just turned 7 and is the 1st dog I’d ever had...she’s also around 75 lbs...couldn’t have asked for a better dog...she’s very people friendly and also a great watchdog...very smart and easy to train as well
That's both terrific and unsurprising to me. While I see more Labradoodles being walked, etc., than used to be the case (which was damn near zero), they are still rare due to the expense to buy one (unless you get lucky). They are truly incredible dogs. Great that there's a fellow Labradoodle owner here! My first one back in the '70's and early '80's had a very distinctive personality and "skill set." He was very protective, yet very discriminating. Never growled or barked unless he had a good reason. The stories I could tell! He was also amazing with kids, was crazy about the girls I was with, loved to play Frisbee, could do several tricks and was at his best when doing them before an audience. He also loved to go "fishing" in a creek. He could spend an endless time trying to catch a fish if he could see them. Never caught one and never got tired of trying. It could be hilarious. There wasn't a fence he couldn't climb. I never had him fixed and I don't doubt that he has descendants in the Montrose and Midtown area of Houston. It was never a problem, believe it or not. Our current dog doesn't climb fences, thank god, but she shares some of what I consider Labradoodle traits. She has a very erect carriage and looks proud and dignified when she sits. She's very handy with her paws. She can also catch anything thrown anywhere near her, leaping way up in the air to catch something you toss. When she's laying on the floor keeping her eyes on things, she likes to fold one of her paws under. It's cute and some of the things my old Labradoodle would do.
My next (soon) dog is gonna be a Blue Lacy...ranch dog extraordinaire...I do believe it's the State Dog of Texas.
