Indiana might have a better shot for Webber than Houston

    Consider the options........

If Webber is serious about wanting to win the ring, then he would want to go to the Eastern Conference.....with the two likely teams being Orlando or Indiana.

Indiana has a lot to give in a sign and trade, and I think they would give up O'neal if they had to. Plus Jalen is one of Webber's boys. Plus Indiana is not that far away from Detroit. Indiana is one of those underrated possibilities.

We are not going to win a championship if Webber comes to Houston, especially with the Lakers and Spurs out west, and that is just true.

One more thing, if Webber does come here, then Hakeem will definitely not be back. He wants more than the Rockets can offer and I cannot see him taking one of those exceptions

I know I sound like I know this stuff (which I dont), but I listen to a Sporting News Radio host named Bob Kemp, and this guy is one of the smartest guys on radio, it is a shame that his show is from 1-5am, but he prefers it.

All that being said, I would like to see the Rockets get Webber because at least we will be a good team.

But now at this point, I would definitely not be surprised if the Rockets did not get Webber.

Maybe our chances of getting him are lower than we think.

when i first heard this rumour of a sign and trade with indiana i was like WHAT??? ( indy is not the big metropolisis i thought he was looking for ) but your point of indy not being far from his hometomn of Detroit AND! not that far of a flight from new york either makes this sound a little more conviencing. i'm at the point that i don't care wheather he comes here or not. i say great if he does and if not...great. re-sign Mo-tay, Hakeem and move up in the draft and get a defensive minded small forward (shane or Richard).

I listen to Kemp too. I agree that he knows his stuff and is pretty insightful.

What exactly is Kemp saying about Webber and Hakeem?

The one thing about Indiana that doesn't make sense is this: Webber's main gripe about Sac-Town is that it is a "hick town" with nothing to do. I thought he wanted to come to a big time city with things to do like Houston, NY, LA, etc.

Also, would the Pacers really give up Jermaine O'Neal. Webber is good, but it's not like he's a superstar. O'Neal is so young and talented.

Webber is a superstar. I have no second thoughts about that. I would definetely trade potential (remember Cato is potential too!) for a superstar anyday.
I agree if Webber wants to win a championship his only chance in the next 2-3 years is in the East.

We are not going to win a championship even if Webber comes here and "that is just true?"

    What a load of crap.

I saw this one, too, and admit it makes me a little concerned. We still would have the better team; Indiana would still have no center, not a plus for them (although I'm starting to wonder if our centers are gonna be Cato and Haywood).

Webber has little chance of winning anywhere right now, East or West. If you do a sign and trade to Indiana, they are losing talent. The Pacers did not even make it out of the first round! And even if they did make it to the finals, they have to face LA or SA. They have a much better chance with Francis and Mobley ... if they get a decent center to shut down the Twin Towers and Shaq.

If C-webb stays in the west he has to go through both SA & LA, assuming they don't hav eany injuries and are the 1 & 2 or 1 & 3 seeds.
In the East C-webb would be the best big man in the East.
I think it is a much easier rode thru the east especially when you consider LA & SA will probably beat each other up in the Western conference finals for a few years to come.

I will agree with you on the first part of your statement, but I don't think a decent center will shut down Shaq and/or the T-Towers. Maybe someone who can put a body on those players and not let them get comfortable on the offensive side of the ball.

    Cato=Bum,

I think the Pacers would be willing to give up O'Neal, becuase ultimately he is not going to be as good as Webber, even though he is talented, he's kinda thin.

Kemp just said what I said, that if we do get CWEBB, there is no way we can sign dream (I got it from him, tho)

As for the type of town Indy is, yeah they have some hicks, becuase the city gets more attention than SAC, they do have another sports team, which means the city must be pretty big.

But Webber has a better chance at the ring in the east because, at least he will have a chance at the ring in the finals, whereas in the west, he would have to face Duncan and SHAQ, which is just too much to ask (A good point by spaceghost).

    Well, let me add something:

If Webber comes here we better have a decent pivot man in the middle. He does not want to play center. He can't anyway. He'd be on the IR in no time. Granted he may get away with an "also-ran" teammate in the East, but out West he needs a premiere center for his game.

I will bet dollars to as many donuts, that in the very unlikely event that Mr. Webber decides to come to Houston, Hakeem is persuaded to play his final year right here in the red glare of Rocketville.

    We will be close though.

Webber is a great big man, francis and Mobley are great guards

Another thing about Indiana is that their main trade bait really didn't contribute all that much to the team this year, so I disagree that they would be losing talent. Future talent, yes, but not the talent that scraped their way to the 8th spot of the playoffs (that was O'Neal, Rose, and Miller). Sacramento would probably love to get Bender and/or Harrington--that alone would be more than what any other team could give them in a sign and trade (for the long-term).

BTW how the hell do you guys listen to Bob Kemp??!! The guy has decent info from time to time, but you have to sit and wait for the idiot to dismiss any and every notion of his callers before he gets to it. Unlistenable radio if you ask me.

Bob Kemp is one of the biggest jerks in public life. When is not an anal-retentive spaz (which is rare) he offers some good information. Incidentally, he thinks the Rockets two championships are illegitimate. *******!

I agree that Kemp hates the Rockets with a passion, and he does say that the Rockets champioships are asterisked, but a lot of people have that opinion.

But Kemp hates all Houston teams, well I don't know about the Texans, but he hates the Astros even worse.

I think he has a negative view of the Houston teams becuase there are many Houston fans (especially the ones who call his program) that just come on with bad takes. And part of that is true.

Hell, I think I have become a smarter more realist person. Four years ago, I would have said that if we were in the hunt for Webber we would win a ring if we got him, but I realize what is more likely to happen.

Last time I chatted with Pacer fans, they assured me that O'Neal was untouchable. [IMG]

I'll bet that if Webber goes to the East his team will get killed in the finals. Only playing the West's elite, say, 10 times a season, will not do you any good when they meet you in the finals.

    Of course, it's a chance.

My fiancee's cousin plays professional ball in Europe, and just returning for a break to see friends and family here in Chi-town, he told me that he's heard a couple of times on both sides of the Atlantic that Webber wants to play with Jalen again...
