If we were somehow able to get him, most of our problems would be solved. We wouldn't even need Webber. If I had a choice between Eddie and Chris, I would take Eddie. He can play the 3 or 4, can shoot the ball, has great athleticism, and has size. Whats amazing is that at 6'9 and 210 pounds he was able to pull down over 10 rebounds a game and lead the nation in shot blocking at 4.5 a game. Now if that doesn't impress you, i don't know what can. I would trade our 3 first round picks this year and our first round picks owned to us by chicago and detriot for him. He would be able to guard guys that haunt us and expose our greatest weakness like garnett, mcgrady, kobe, and tim.

Yeah this dude is gonna be a star. In my opinion he is the best player in the draft because he can do so many things. But I would still try to get Webber even if we were able to trade up to get Griffin.

Draft Eddie Griffin and sign C-Webb and Marc Jackson...to borrow a quote from someone else, "everyone would be dancing in the streets!"

    Center: Marc Jackson/Hakeem Olajuwan
    Power Forward: Chris Webber/Kenny Thomas
Small Forward: Eddie Griffin/Dan Langhi/Matt Bullard
    Off Guard: Cuttino Mobley
    Point Guard: Steve Francis/Moochie Norris

There would be some championships with that line up!

And then after all of this happens, we can work out a sign and trade with the Lakers to get Shaq.

Eddie, Battier, and Brown are the best guys in the draft. I've seen little of Eddie so I don't remember if he has the lateral quickness to guard Kobe. On a scale from Ostertag to Payton, rate his lateral movement.

Yeah that lineup is cool but I doubt if Dream wants to come off the bench.

    I'm allowed to dream aren't I? [IMG]
If we won one of the top three spots in the lottery or managed to trade up and get Griffin do you think the additional tallent would increas our chances of landing C-Webb?

Lil Francis, I have no problem starting Dream, but Jackson would be nice to have for the 30-40 games or so that the Dream will be injured.

    Marc Jackson?!!!

Someone take the "o" out of Jackson because he has NO offense. Scooby-Dooby Doo awkward, at best.

There's no "d" in "Marc Jackson."

Rebounder? If my team-mates missed as many shots as GS, I'd have a high-rebound average, too.

Does anybody think now that the draft lottery is finished and the wizards have won it that they would be willing to trade the 1st pick to us for our 3 first rounders this year plus 2 more first rounders owned to us.
If i was the gm of the rockets i would do anything to get this guy. I don't know how they can say that there is no clear 1st pick this year. He will win rookie of the year without a doubt, because you know none of the high schoolers will be able to win it.

I personaly think players that hit their teammates are a big risk. He's the fish phenom that got into a fight at practice right?

Here is what insidehoops said about him:
    Eddie Griffin

Strengths: Smooth agile player who can run the break and finish gracefully .... Relaxed lets game come to him doesn't let his emotions get in the way of playing ... Devastating shot-blocker for a freshman lead the nation with 4.4 a game... Posses all the great physical tools for a shot-blocker timing, quick leaping ability, long arms, and lateral quickness ... Versatile scorer who is able to post up or float out for the mid range jumper although this part of his game is still far from being complete ... Very good rebounder gets into great position under the glass that along with his quick hops and strong hands make him a threat to grab rebounds on every play .... Could of come out of high school and been a High lottery pick but decided to go to college one year.. Has started to develop a 3-point shot to go along with his evolving mid-range game ...

Weakness: Should really consider adding 20 pounds of muscle to his lean frame .... Needs to play with energy and passion as he can go through times during a game with he plays lethargic ... Is still at the point in his career where he thinks every shot is a good shot needs to learn on developing better shot selection .... Character has come under fire due in part to his 2 fights one with college teammate Ty Shine and the other with a high school teammate at Roman Catholic ..... Right now is in sort of a positional limbo between playing small forward and power forward .... Ball handling while not bad could stand a tad bit more improvement on protecting the ball as he turned the ball over too many times ....

joe joe, you shouldn't worry about his lateral quickness. I mean if the man averaged 4.4 blocks a game playing in the toughest conference in America, The Big East, and is only 6'9 he better have great quickness. When he blocks shots, he doesn't camp in the middle and wait he actually chases people around and hustles.

Block shots have little to do with side to side movement needed to guard Kobe. I know he has good quickness to the ball, I just want to know how well he plays man to man on the perimeter.

I think we have a great chance to get him, now that I hear reports that mj may want to trade it since he doesn't want a high schooler or someone with limited college experience, which means everybody in the top 5. I would trade:

1.)our 3 first rounders this year
2.)plus our 2 first rounders owned to us by detriot and chicago

for the number 1 pick in the 2001 draft
in which we would select Eddie Griffin. The man that will solve most of our problems, and provide some much needed help at SF.

    I agree with you here.

Not as impressed with Jackson as everyone else seems to be.

He is higher on most's list than Davis, and isn't as good a defender, rebounder, and definitely scorer.

Davis is also a great locker room guy, I know this isn't the biggest factor when signing a talented player, but when it comes down to it, something like a veteran's leadership could carry us to the playoffs.

How about two firsts this year and two first rounders next year? We need one choice this year to grab a SG like Hassell or Bogans if we lose Anderson to FA. And don't forget we still need a center of the future -- unless ya'll believe Cato can fulfill his potential.

Sounds good to me. If there is any player worth 5 picks its Eddie Griffin. Right now he can play the 3 and 4 but once he adds 20lbs he will be able to play the 3,4, and 5. What a weapon.
