im sure most of dallas fans, hate walker, what do u have to say about that? why do u like steve so much? Besides him being on our team.
I would not tread SF for Nash strait up. Yes the Rockets would be better short term, but Nash doesn't play defense either and is 30. The only over 30 PG I would trade for Francis is Kidd--who I just think will last in the league longer than either Nash or SF despite him also being 30 to Francis 27. Marbury is the same age as Francis but just better, you have to trade for him even if he may be an *hole. I have to say yes on Bibby or Davis for Francis too. Both are younger and more effective point guards. Now Hinrich, Terry, Arenas or Billips could be decent replacements, but they alone are not close to enough compensation for Francis. I am glad no one mentioned Parker--one fo the most inconsistent and overrated PGs in the league in terms of shot selection and team leadership. Finally, I have to say I think many understimate Francis trading value, he is a multiple all-star and one of the league most exicting players (filling stands, bringing excitement) who at times can dominante a game. My ideal course of action is to trade Francis to foremost solidify our PF spot, and then use the MLE for a guy like Brent Barry or a smaller trade for an steady but non-special PG. We don't need an elite PG, a steady one with a much stronger front court around Yao and Mobley would serve the team much better.
I will answer once the season is over. The trade deadline has passed, and our team is in the middle of jockeying for what position they will be in the playoffs. All my team efforts right now are concentrated on cheering for the team we have to make it to the playoffs, and play competitively there. If that happens, then I won't want to trade anybody after the season. If it doesn't happen, then I will invest some thought into trades. Right now, I'm cheering for my team, not thinking of ways to get rid of them.
In no particular order, Point Guards I would rather have than Steve Francis.... Definitely with no reservations 1 for 1 right now: Steve Nash Mike Bibby Jason Kidd Kirk Hinrich (plus a matching contract) Maybe with some reservations or with the right "trade deal": Marbury Baron Davis Sam Cassell TJ Ford Carlos Arroyo Jayson Williams Eric Snow Speedy Claxton (closer to not than maybe) Arenas (closer to not than maybe) Larry Hughes Dwayne Wade Barbosa Absolutely not ever: Iverson Damon Stoudamire Gary Payton (too old) Tony Parker Jason Terry Tyron Lue Derrick Fisher Chauncey Billups NVE
Thanks for sharing. I am a little confused why you would click on a thread titled 'Would you trade Francis for Nash?' when you are not interested in discussing trades.
Bibby isn't a playmaker? He was averaging 8+ assists per game for the Grizz before he moved to the Kings, where everybody shares the ball about equally and he has to split time with Bobby Jackson.
Francis' playing style requires him to be the man on a team dominating the ball, but at the same time, he's not good enough to be the man on a championship team. Bibby or Nash are both better for this team.
I would trade Francis for ANY point guard in the Western Conference (because I think he is the worst "pg" in the West) and, as to Nash, I promise you, Dallas wouldn't do it, ever, never!
Baron Davis: NO! hes shooting percentage is bad thou out his career, and is gonna get worse since west's got taller centers to block his lay-up attempts Mike Bibby: hard choice, but he cant carry a team like francis Marbury: maybe yes, since he seems more consistent
do you just hate francis everytime you get!!!!!!!!!!!!! He can carry a team. Hes did it the past 4 years, but missing a few games out of the playoffs, but still above .500. Who else led the team? Mobley? Your saying if francis was replaced by bibby the previous 4 years he would even comming close to .500? Would he get you 20+ pts, 6+ assists, and 6+ rebounds?
He would probably have provided ~18 points (at a higher percentage), 8+ assists, and 3.5 rebounds, with an increase in scoring from Mobley. The records should have been similar though.
Can anyone comment on Nash's half-court game? From the limited time I was watching, he was not very effective in a slow-tempo-half court-game.
So I could post that I wasn't worried about trades Mainly, I wanted to see if there was any rationale for talking about trading players that are playing for a Rocket's team in the middle of a playoff run that I might find reasonable and change my mind about discussing trades.
