At the bottom of this page, http://www.82games.com/comm25.htm, 82games.com ranks the top offensive clutch players per 100 possessions. Yao ranks 4th overall in offensive clutch rating(144) and 1st overall (82%) in FG% per 100 possessions (Boozer is 2nd at 61%). The sickest thing is only 43% of his shots got assisted. That's the lowest % for any centers or forwards on the list.

Those stats are kind of weird. Hard to understand.

    Actually, he's 5th overall.

With five minutes left, and the score within five points, Yao Ming is 23 for 28, a blazing 82%. Good god, that's so sick I can't think of a cheezy metaphor to describe it. If that isn't clutch, I don't know what is. His thirteen turnovers are far higher than anybody else's, though, and must have contributed to him dropping down to 5th.

Interesting to see Posey at 4th overall and 8th in plus/minus clutch situations. I kind of miss him, but I think JJ gives us all Posey did (maybe not as good leading the break) for half the money.

I can't believe those numbers- 23 for 28 in the last five minutes of close games. No other player on the chart even approaches that percentage. Some part of Ming's excellent FG% must be attributed to his very picky shot selection. I don't like that he's sometimes wimpy, I don't like that he passes out of the double so often, and I don't like that he fades away rather than goes to the hole; but the fact is if the guy doesn't see a good shot in front of him he won't take it. You've got to love common sense like that.

    The 82% is ridiculous.

I'd rather Ym shot more to decrease his fg to about 70%.

This is the most disturbing figure, especially given the ridiculous advantage Yao has on the inside.

Boozer would be a nice addition. Posey wouldn't have helped Rox this year but he never played like that in Houston.

I could be wrong, but i think the stat shows that Yao is scoring in postup situations in the clutch. Obviously, no one is going to leave a guard so that he can dish to Yao for an assisted FG in the closing minutes of a game.
