This is the most frustrating game to watch all year long. How can the Mavs just continually give the Spurs the game and the series? The Spurs have good defense, but that's not the cause of what's happening. The Mavs have blown wide open layups, wide open threes, wide open midrange jumpers-- you name it. This is supposed to be one of the best shooting teams in the NBA, and for the second night in a row they have absolutely shot the ball at an incredibly poor percentage. I still think the Mavs can win this series-- all it takes to even things back up are winning two home games with the Dallas crowd fired up and crazy-- but not if this continues. I can't recall two games in a row recently that I've ever seen poor shooting like this by the same team. The Mavs have the team to challenge and beat the Spurs, imho. All it takes to have a chance is simply execution on wide open shots. How hard can it be?

I guess that's why we keep hearing former players say there's no comparison between the regular season and the playoffs and keep emphasizing who's got prior playoff experience.

    Oh, and don't forget....

When you are leaving the NBA ALL TIME leader in 3 pt. % open time after time (Steve Kerr) you have some serious defensive issues.

I see Kerr getting his minutes bumped up even more after last night's game. SHEESH!

I'll tell you exactly why Cat. Don Nelson is one of the worst defensive coaches ever, if not THE worse, and it rubs off on his players.

    TheCat,

    GO SPERZ!!!! [IMG]

The Spurs shut people down. During the regular season they gave up the 3rd fewest points per game, they were second in defensive FG% (by .002%), they wre first in defensive 3pt FG%. I listened to some of the Mavs post-game show here in Dallas and they said in something like 24 quarters of play, the Spurs have held the Mavs to under 20 points 19 of the quarters. Those numbers may not be exact, but I'm sure you get the point. THEY ARE THAT GOOD!

...even without poor Derek Anderson who was roughed up by that thug Juwan Howard! [IMG]

He isn't nearly as bad as Paul Westphal. The Mavs are not a bad defensive team, but it stands out in this series how GOOD a defensive team the Spurs are.

Tim Duncan's record in his last 21 playoff games: 19-2

The Mavs are weak, the Spurs are strong. This is a warm-up for the Spurs for the next round.

Yeah, the Sperms are tough as nails. It would be hard for any team in the league to beat them in a series.

Why aren't all the Mavs 7 footers getting more PT? Gotta use size against the Sperms's size.

My personal favorite play was when Antonio Daniels drove the lane and Shawn Bradley and Juwan Howard parted like he was Moses.

Guess they got tired of hearing all of the Spurs whining about the Howard foul.
