There was one off of MOPAC in Austin. It was basically them reheating their frozen food. It wasn't very good...except the pies.
It was the one on Mopac.. Makes sense there not here anymore. Giving Southerners reheated frozen Southern food is a little different than giving Californians reheated Southern food. Then again, people still eat at Chilis.
If you want to see Ouisie's blown out of the water, and I really like that place, and I'm not kidding, drive up to Olamaie
Southern? Marie Calendar's is quintessentially Californian and a variation of Denny's at that. Ouise's hasn't changed their menu in like 25+ years. I hat being dragged there. I think they own Relish (not sure if thats correct) which was mentioned by the OP, which is much better imo
When they have items in the frozen section that are pot pies, country fried steaks, country fried chicken and meatloaf and gray, its pretty easy to get the Southern vibe from it.
This new Chis Shepherd place sounds awesome, yall check it out and let me know if I need to go: https://www.texasmonthly.com/food/church-cookbooks-houston-culinary-scene-wild-oats/
We can’t do Tex-Mex but we show out pretty good with soul food. https://ny.eater.com/maps/best-southern-restaurants-nyc
They sold out to Church's probably 30-40 years ago. They used to have some of the greeziest chicken. I remember when the Ron's near me became a Church's I went to try it. Yup - same greezy chicken. lol They're here and there in the DFW area. There used to be one by me up here in DFW, but they shut down in the last year or so, I think. Babe's does have pretty good chicken, though their sides are horrible. Even their smoked chicken is pretty awesome. I have a Bubba's and a Babe's not too far from me, but I never tried Bubba's. The third place in their family is Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes up in Decatur, Tx. I went there once to try the chicken fried ribeye. Lord... even thinking about that makes me wonder how I survived. But it was good. lol. I think they opened up a new location last year in North Richland Hills, too.
The Post Chicken & Beer - Longmont, CO (or Denver, Boulder) This is first place I tried collard greens, mmmm. so. good. I don't love fried chicken, I'm more about the sides.
We used to go out to a place, I think in Magnolia. It was always awesome but tgat was 12 years ago. Ill get the name from wifey. Peach cobbler there was great.
