Wow. Nice find! If James is looking at single coverage, in most situations, the defender is toast. He has more variations on a theme than Mozart.

I don’t think people realize how skilled James is with the ball. His footwork is crazy, besides Hakeem and Jordan I’ve never watched as much tape as I do on James. Sad that people only b**** on his short comings.

there’s so many things I’ve taken from watching Harden and added to my own game

1 of my favorites is that move he’ll do in the post where he’ll do a quick turnaround followed by a stepback

I’ve become a lot more shifty after studying his game all these years

only player I’ve ever found to be more entertaining to watch is 02-03 T-Mac...when it comes to just pure skill, I can watch Harden all day

Didn’t add in the step back which is what makes it even harder to defend. Defenders have to be ready to launch to cover the space for the step back, making the defender even more off balanced having to hedge the risk more.

Maybe CP can watch this and take notes?

Harden has such an exceedingly rare combo of size, strength, handles and shooting touch. The NBA is the most uniquely athletic sports league in the world and even though he is probably only average in that regard, his athleticism seems least important. You can’t just let him shoot, you gotta play up. You can’t crowd him or he’ll draw cheap fouls, too smart, too quick, too convincing because refs know he’ll make those shots even if he’s just playing for the foul. You can’t knock the ball out of his hands, he’s too strong and crafty, you can’t body him up he wants that anyway. His drives are only stopped by a rim protecting 7’ who he s happy to send floaters and lobs over. You are almost forced to let him rock you to sleep on endless hesitations and cross overs An hope he just misses shots. Or have Draymond who is the only defender I’ve consistently seen cut off his drive and the lob, and that was with klay, iggy and Durant taking turns getting cooked.

Tip your hat NBA defender s and crybaby opposing fans. It’s called being great.

And last year the data showed that Embiid and Antentokounmpo actually got more free throws vs usage.
