Is this team more talented than what we have had in the last 4 years?

Last year we had Eddie, Rice and walt

Can we say JJ, Cato and Mo T are better . .i think so.
[still less than the rest of our conference but . . ]

question what was the most talented team we have had
    since not making the playoffs?

In terms of talent, the significant difference between this year is the subtraction of Posey, and Griffin, and the addition of JJ.

Progress, health etc. are issues secondary to talent, and also connected to coaching.

Remember that team Dream said was the most talented he'd ever been surrounded with? I'm going with that one.

The significant difference is the improvement of Yao Ming.

Les already said last year's team was the most talented team ever assembled.

Tough call, but I think the current roster is #2 on the list. The '00-'01 season, was the most talented for the second half of the season, because Olajuwon finally was healthy. Francis and Mobley made a great backcourt, Walt Williams was shooting something like 70% on 3-pointers. Mo Taylor was getting settled in. But the season was split in two because the first half had a very ineffective Olajuwon. If we could have played the whole season the way we played after the All-Star break, we would have been very good.

I think people are forgetting the huge point that has instantly made us playoff contenders this year. We are forgetting about the man who drastically improves our team, and makes us far superior now than all the other years...by far...

This point, of course, is the fact that we no longer have moochie norris on our team.

It's too bad Carlos Rogers had crap for attitude. He was pretty talented when he played hard. Reminded me of Donyell Marshall.

Hamilton could've been good too. And Eddie Griffin.... wow. They need to invent the chill pill for these guys so we stop getting royally screwed.

I agree health has nothing to do with talent. But I disagree that "progress" is irrelevant. Some "talents" can be acquired/improved through time. These include court smart, physical strength, knowledge of the game, and attitude.

I'd say Yao is definitely more talented this year than last simply by improving his upper body strength and conditioning. Unless, of course, you don't count physical abilities as "talent."

So you think Yao has more talent now than he did a year ago? Or that Jordan had more talent in his 5th year than in his first?

I think we have different definitions of talent.

All kidding aside, last years team was definitly more talented as far as potential goes.

And thats before and after the Posey trade. When you consider that E.G. was real power forward even though he only played like it maybe 10 games in the entire time he was here that team had the most talent. If that guy would have averaged just 12 points and 8 boards, they would have made the playoffs.

I guess I'm looking for ACTUAL results and not POTENTIAL

Eddie had potential but never panned out last year
