This. As long as Lonzo has Zion, Jrue etc to carry the scoring load, his weaknesses can be hidden. And he fits in great with all the long, athletic defenders NO is putting together. That team could get really good a lot faster than people are predicting if Zion is even half as good as his hype.

Meh. I'd still take a healthy Lonzo over Young. Lonzo just unlucky his dad made him play in BBBs lol.

Trae is undeniably a special talent...He's becoming a great player. But, Ball is not the chopped liver that many seem to think he is. Eventually, he should be pushing triple doubles on a daily basis, while helping the loaded Pelicans win a lot of games. These two should be playing in the All Star game against each other for quite awhile.

Different players, with different archs, at a position that usually takes awhile....

Yeah, this thread was kaput with a gravestone, with Young's All-Star selection and ability to remain one of the league's top scorers.

    R.I.P

No worries, I think Lonzo has failed high expectations, he has all the tools, still has.

    He cannot really shoot.

I hope this label doesn't stick around with Lonzo forever. I clowned him when he first came into the league, but he's put in a ton of work. He completely reworked his horrendous form to be normal which is no easy feat. The past two seasons he shot 37.6% from deep on 7.2 attempts per game over 118 games. That's a large sample size and volume.

Lonzo does not have all the tools. He has neither the scoring capability or passing creativity of even his younger brother, let alone Trae. Struggles finishing inside and drawing contact on offense. His lack of scoring ability limits his playmaking in the half court, especially the in the PNR which should be a staple for any PG.

the confidence with which some of those takes were typed

this being no contest in favor of Lonzo…the lame “Trae Young plays in the East” argument as if being in the EC automatically gives him a +5 boost in all his counting stats, and more…sheesh

Young always had the potential to play at the level he’s currently at in these playoffs…never in a million years could I see Lonzo ever coming close
