Playoff assist average-2.9 00-01 assist average-5.4 career-6.3 What a playmaker..... ------------------
You know I had to post to this thread! J-Will IMO is the most overrated PG in the history of the game. If Mooche were in SAC then J-Will would be a bench warmer. J-Will is a choker and is a defensive liability with a sub par shot and not much offense. Jason (all show and no go) Williams obviously is posing as University (incognito) Blue. Sorry University Blue, you got style but you know where I stand on J-Dudd. ------------------
I was hoping this would be a thread about the Duke J-Will, or someone spelled Jayson Williams' name wrong. Jason Williams is a bench warmer. Plain and simple. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
Lets get Rodman as well. And Rider. ------------------ "Blind dates suck. When they told me she had long dark hair all the way down her back, they fogot to mention none of it was attached to her head. She really did have long dark hair all the way down her back."
stop the insanity!!! if you are going to post something please something that is worthwhile. this is the stupidest thing i have read thus far in the forum. ------------------
I would take Bobby Jackson over FreakShow. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
"Playoff assist average-2.9 00-01 assist average-5.4 career-6.3" Stevie J-W 2001 TO/MIN .083 .070 2001 Ast/Min .162 .182 Career TO/Min .096 .087 Career Ast/Min .171 .190 Guys it gets old for slamming someone who has better PG skills than Stevie. You can say he is not as good as player as Stevie but J-W is a better PG than Stevie. Also they are both below average defensively, Stevie is more athletic so he may have more potential defensively but potential doesn't cut it. As for being over-hyped maybe he is but the bottom line he gets the publicity we all wish our players got. All right maybe not the bad PR or racism we want! But honestly as far as PG goes he is definetely good offensively.
Chuckie, That doesn't apply. Williams plays about 1/2 the minutes Steve does. If you do per minute stuff you will also find that people like Pollard are superstars. Additionally, Williams has instant assist completers -- Peja is a spot-up shooter, Webber does not take too long, Divac is a spoy up often, etc...this is the highest scoring team in the league. Steve, on the other hand, has Cat who creates mostly on his own...MoTay who dribbles so much before-hand that assists are lost. Shandon who bricks. Cato who doesn't catch. Kenny maybe, if he does not blow layups. Dream for a little while. Wiz...nevermind. Not to mention how he also plays the 2 every now and then... Even though Steve has a lot to learn, he is both a better player and pg. He is not as creative, sure...but who cares? He is more under control, more clutch, more consistent, and is better understanding how to run the offense. Williams is regressing. Verse, Yawn, get original, I already said that. ------------------ "You sanctimonious philistines, who scoff at me!"
Rim- I would argue that J-W gets the ball to his teammates where they want it and where they are the most effective. Stevie hasn't learned to do this yet. He is not a pure PG, he never has been a PG before and he is learning to play there. Also my other criteria for a PG is making their teammates effective. The Kings players have all been playing pretty well individually since J-W arrived (Webber, Vlade, Stoy, Christie, etc have all played well) . Since Francis became our PG noone, outside of Cat who creates for himself, has had a break-out year. Granted Dream is getting older so he shouldn't really count. But Stevie did not help Mo or Cato or Anderson or Walt become any better players. Maybe it's the chicken and the egg story but the bottom line is other players (up to this point) are not more effective playing with Stevie. Also I think comparing on a per minute basis is much more fair than per game stats. Granted JW doesn't play nearly as many minutes as Stevie, but it's the quality of the minutes played, not the quantity. Again I still love to hear people talking about JWs turnovers, while he is less likely to turn the ball over than stevie. But again, I digress, Stevie is by far a better player just not a better PG.
I'm pretty sure Divac came to the Kings the year Williams was drafted, as did Webber, so I don't really see how you can say that their effectiveness has anything to do with Williams. It's not like Divac or Webber had been playing poorly and their games were rejuvenated by Williams presence. I don't consider coming off of picks and shooting off balanced 3's a sign of good point guard skills. Williams has the talent to be a very good point guard, but you wonder if he'll ever learn from his mistakes...... ------------------
AP Wire Report May 18, 2001 <font color=darkblue>Proving his doubters wrong, Williams exploded on the NBA scene with a dazzling array of flashy passes and long-distance shots.</font> <font color="darkblue">"Jason is a great player. I'll always believe in him." Chris Webber</font> If Sacramento (or Rick Adelman) feel that Jason Williams is a detriment to the team, they should trade him...to Houston. Houston will get a great PG to play along-side Francis, the offense will be more fluid, and there will be more fans in the stands. University (Someone freakin' pass Rick a Mach5.) JASON WILLIAMS SUCKS. HE WOULD BE THE LAST GUY I WOULD WANT. HE WOULD DESTROY THE CHEMISTRY ON THE TEAM. ------------------
Gee, That was a fun read. Blue, Thanks for stickin up for Jason ------------------ [This message has been edited by slugking (edited May 19, 2001).]

T.S. Eliot! University (Hollow Rim) Blue [This message has been edited by University Blue (edited May 19, 2001).]
Okay, I'll send Cato for Williams + cap fillers. Then I'll send Williams to Atlanta for Ratliff, or Boston for Pierce, or LA Clippers for Miles, or Chicago for Brand, or Golden State for Jamison, or New Jersey for Van Horn, or Orlando for Miller, or Denver for LaFrentz etc, etc, etc. The fact is that Williams would have some trade value just based on his potential(Isn't that why we acquired Cato & then signed him to his big contract?). First off, we won't be losing Moochie. We have his early bird rights, unless someone offers him more than his fair market value(Chicago), then he'll be back. Our guards are our strength. Why would we even think about messing with that combination? Let's focus on our front line positions, shall we. ------------------
Yeah, stats mean nothing in the NBA. Williams's 6 apg caused Peja's scoring to go up 10 points, Divac to play the same as he has all career (actually, his numbers are down now...but that is age), Nick Anderson to thrive...oops, Doug Christie to start playing defense, and Webber to hit his prime and take already all-star #'s to higher levels...right? That is why Derek Fisher is also a superstar (better numbers), why Jason Terry was consedered a huge bust his rookie year (avg 9 and 5 - so much worse than 12 and 6), why Baron Davis has as many commercials, why Damon Staudamire (13 and 6) has been a disappointment and has been "on the decline." That is also why Rafer Alston is a star -- he has some of the most amazing moves of anyone in the game. What is the difference? White/black, maybe? Williams surprised people because no one even thought he could play 1 game in the NBA. Mostly because of his "issues." Didn't he not play all of his senior year or something? The fact that he came in and got 12 and 6 was a miracle to some. 12 and 6 for a carreer are solid numbers, nothing at which to scoff. However, that is not a superstar or even star. Especially when those numers go down. Again, 8 and 3 in the playoffs with a 1.1 a/to ration = nonfactor. Anyway, the majority of NBA fans are white...Williams is white with a flair...like the last non-white white player - "Pistol Pete." This means he is a superstar. ------------------ "You sanctimonious philistines, who scoff at me!"
Cancel my subscription, I'm through with your issues. Just kidding. Race issues are important, but I do not want to use this forum to discuss such a serious matter. Jason Williams, however, does not represent the white community, Madison Avenue, or whatever-powers-that-be...and therefore should not be the object of your pistol whips. <font color=darkblue>University</font> (Venus in the sky, hear the Tiger's roar.) <font color=darkblue>Blue</font> ------------------
