Absolutely. Manu could play either guard position. Even though he is a SG, JVG could easily transform him into a PG.
Ginobili will likely command more than the MLE (which the Spurs have) and the Rockets only have the MLE to work with. I dont see any way we can get him.
Not if you use your brain. I understand that you sometimes prefer not to, but try... I posted at least three more articles with direct quotes. What is more likely to be correct? You think Megan Manfull knows better than these journalists who have spoken directly with Boozer? She obviously messed up.
Deuce, I am hearing on the San Antonio radio station that they are NOT able to pay more than the MLE for him. I think that they would have to be under the cap to pay him, and they are worried that they will not be able to keep him. BUT....I have been wrong many times before as our German meisterbrau SJC pointed out. DD
Normally not, which is why I am kind of a fan of the fantasy trades, but the problem here is that, as you could see in this thread, people pick up on the idea and keep harping on it even though it is not possible! It's kind of like saying "I hope KG signs with us after this season". It definitely cannot happen, so there is really no point to it.
Boozer gets lots of points from putbacks just like he did at Duke. He does not have a total offensive package to be the man on offense. But he will be a perfect fit to Yao. At least the opposing PF cannot cheat since Boozer has a decent stroke up to 12 feet range.
Boozer is definitely out of the question. The Cavs have the ball in their court. My realistic hopes for the offseason would be to get Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess, Stromile Swift, or Chris Wilcox. Getting one of these guys will take this team to the next level. It's becoming clearer and clearer that this team needs someone with energy, someone who will step on people on the way to the basket. Basically, a more talented Cato. Weatherspoon will have one year left on his contract, so we can dump him easily and Cato's value is improved (although not as good as early season). We also have the 6.9M exception and the MLE, plus it seems trading Steve is a realisti possiblity (although I'm not 100% supportive of it). This team better look damn good after the coming offseason or it's CD's head. This time, he has the resources, so he needs tog et the job done.
Rasheed looks like the best deal we can make in the offseason. I am still a little bit skeptical about boozer because I still remembered how excited the whole clutchcity was when we signed MoT. Unless we somehow get rid of Cato/MoT, I do not see us pay another good but not great PF 50M.
Those qualities of Houston have nothing to do with the Rockets and basketball. Sure, any NBA player can buy a house and live in Houston in the offseason but i'm talking about the actual game itself and championship contention.
WHY NOT? Cato can play PF and why don't we give SF a try at SF? I try to put him on sg 1st but I don't think cat will like to play as a backup of stevie
The rockets need a big man who can actually play on BOTH sides of the ball......goos luck CD......if boozer or kmart come here......ooohhh......
That is simply hogwash. How quickly people forget that Elton Brand (a duke product as well) is an All Star and a 20-10 player in the west .......yes the 'scary' WESTERN CONFERENCE. Interestingly Elton is not bigger and if I must add that better than Carlos Boozer. If Elton can co it, Carlos Can do it as well in the dreaded West. Simply put - if you are good - you are good.
Uh... sure. None of that stuff would ever enter the mind of a player with options about where he would like to play. I don't know what I was thinking.
If you're going to talk about why Free agents would come to Houston then at least explain why they would want to play here besides talking about the city itself. You did mention they would like to play with Yao ming, and that's the only rockets-related thing you said. Even then, I don't think anyone is beating down the doors to play with Yao right now. You need to ask yourself why Malone and Payton left about $20 million dollars on the table to play for LA. Giving up that kind of money I don't think they were too worried about tax-breaks or playin in LA to chase some ass.
One more thing I forgot to add, why would any major FA's want to come to Houston when there's at LEAST 5 other teams in the west who are more attractive. Oh, and 2 happen to be in Texas=no state income tax. Wow, the whole no state income tax thing isn't restricted to Houston, imagine that. FA's already making millions and millions of dollars want to go to WINNING teams. Sure the rockets have a winning record, but they should thank the basketball gods for the eastern conference every day. Rockets are 12-18 in the conference, the only teams worse than that are the Clippers and the suns. Don't even get me started on the division record. So, pray tell, why would FA's want to come to houston? Let's be honest, most actual players around the league don't hold Yao in as high esteem as rockets fanatics, and that's just the nature of the game.
Well, I could say that San Antonio would be more attractive for a player. The human being might prefer Houston (strip clubs, Westside, lots of players already living here off-season). Dallas? If you want no playing time to speak of, sure, sign there. Once the team is reshaped in the offseason ---and it will be--- then things will improve for free agent acquisitions.
