please do not turn this into a bashing thread

but what are we running . . or trying to run

    Is this IN SIDE OUT?
    UCLA CUT?
    Triangle?
    Motion Offense

I need some tape of the old VAN GUNDY offense in NY

How similar is what we run to that?
What is different? [beyond shots dropping]

Just curious: I never saw our big man grab rebound and passed to our guard for fast break since JVG become our coach this season. Is it because our big man's rebounding is so bad that we cannot solely rely on them grabbing rebound to pass to the guards or JVG's offence strategy. Anyone watch previous JVG's Knicks give me some insight.

JVG had a good break going there in NY. Spree is one of the best in the break. Jut fabulous. Also, they used some ISO there, as there was no zone there......

I think if our break was somewhat good, we would be at least 12 games over .500....right w/ Memphis and Dallas....

But was spree on the wings waiting
    or
did he have to go get the rebound then bolt
ala Jason Kidd [that is his best thing IMO Rebounding
then turning it into a break]

I'm trying not to turn your post into a bashing JVG thread,but...I can't bear...

Okey, I respect your advice. Just post it in brief.

what are we running . . or trying to run

Is this IN SIDE OUT? (Nominally)

    UCLA CUT? (Not a bit)

    Triangle? (lose on angle)

Motion Offense (Give me a break)

I think pretty much we feed the post.

Last night vs. Cleveland, I saw more Rockets post up than I've seen in a game all season. Yao & MoT, Cato posted up, shoot even JJ & Steve took a turn in the post. And what's the deal with Mark Jackson turning his back to the basket before he ever even gets to midcourt? Is he posting up behind the arc???

Doesnt matter. A good fast break player will either push right away after getting a rebound, or bolt as soon as the other team misses, and look for the outlet from you PG or the rebounder. Kind of like Cat yesterday. He rebounded, and went straight to the other side for 2 layups....other times, he waited on the wings, and when he got the rock, tried to put his head down again to see an opening. when nothing, he brought it back out.....Its a shame Steve doesnt do any of this......would be an easy way to get out a slump u know;)

    Good to hear
cause normally The PG has to come back to beneath the foul line
just to get the ball from the center/PF . . if he did not get the
    rebound himself.

Can the rebounder pass it to steve around the other teams 3 pt line? somewhat ahead or something

motion.... the mess at the start of the season was clearly motion being learnt on the job

JVG is clearly teaching them to make reads based on what the D does

Well when he is on the sideline/wing, and the whole side is cleared out, then he is trying to post, which is rather successful.
However when he starts from half court it is just to protect the ball, because he is slow and a reverse dribble up the court is more effective than steve trying to cross over everytime

I think when MJ turns his back to the basket that early, it catches the defenses attention, turning into a missed assignment. Ex. MoT runs right underneath the basket and JJ being wide open behind the arc. Or maybe he just likes to dribble like that. :)
