Well, hopefully they have a little more respect for the actor if not the character than to end his arc like that. Iron man went out with a bang. Cap got his sunset. Ragnorok was finally a quality solo movie but Thor (and Loki) were big time contributors in the Avengers. Particularly in endgame where his story involved worthiness and a big message about being ok with yourself.
I'm not that big of a comic buff but in the comics, Nick Fury whispered to Thor that no god was worthy of mortal admiration. In his heart he believed it and by doing so he became unworthy of wielding Mjolnir and unworthy to be "Thor, God of Thunder." Hence, he started going by the name "Odinson" instead of "Thor."
The comic book storyline is very different as to what has transpired in the previous three Thor adaptations (including Avengers 3 etc.): In the comic book series Jane Foster has cancer prior to becoming Thor Thor's father Odin is still alive and well The Destroyer has yet to have been destoryed by Thor Melekith the Accursed is the first villian Jane Foster Thor fights (Dario Agger aka Minotaur / Carl Creel aka Absorbing Man included) and defeats to save the cosmic world Obviously most of those events cannot be adapted to the cinema version from those significant comic plot lines but the cancer situation might explain why Jane hasn't been seen in the MCU for quite some time.
Kind of a tangent, but I really want to see Taika Waititi's next film. Nothing like a good Hitler Youth comedy.
Author who wrote the Lady Thor arc in the comic is guessing this guy. Evil corporate guy- we know Bale can nail that.

He's doing a limited run series on Showtime based on a graphic novel, The Auteur, with Jude Law starring. Summary of the comic sounds pretty awesome to me: Fresh off the biggest bomb in Hollywood history, disgraced and desperate producer Nathan T. Rex enters a downward spiral of drugs and depravity in a quest to resurrect his career and save his soul. Over budget and behind schedule on the latest installment of the horror franchise, PRESIDENTS DAY, T. Rex is backed into a corner by bad publicity, a crap project, and a jerk studio exec, but finds salvation at a strip club by huffing glue, and a chance encounter with cable news.
