A local retailer was doing a returns for me off multiple receipts. 2 were credit card, 1 was from a debit card. The person did them all together (the first mistake) as one transaction. When finished, instead of the money going back to the 2 separate cards, their system processed it to credit card and gave the taxes back as cash. Thought it was strange since most of it the refund should have been back to the debit card or just cash. 3 different people couldn't figure out how to remove money that was never should have went to a credit card. They voided the tender multiple times, but their system wouldn't let them back out the whole transaction and let them restart. Eventually, I said screw it and let the money stay on the credit card. Anyway, I check to day and to make sure the refund went in after all those voids.....and there are 6 credits for the amount of the refund on the credit card. Im thinking what the hell and they royally screwed up that transaction. I think I know why the money that was supposed to go on the debit card didn't go thru; my bank sent a new card with the same number but different expiration date between the time of the purchases and the return. So the retailers system would have had a card with the wrong EXP Date in their system. So, the system put the money on the valid Credit Card instead. So, by trying to save time and not separating the transactions, the retail person (and associates) screwed up (I know they do the one transaction thing all the time) and put $200+ worth of credit on my credit card. From what I understand, they may never know it. They also can't do a charge back on a credit card like they can a debit card (laws are different...it would seem.). What should I do?
It’ll probably sort itself out in a few days. I’ve had this kind of thing happen before. Are the transactions still pending?
I’m no doctor, but you might have lupus. Please consult webmd with the rest of your symptoms of interest.
You're running a credit scam scheme. I want in. If you don't accept me, I will report you to the authorities.
Nope. Went thru and posted. I have a receipt that has the extra credits as "tender void", but they went thru anyway.
Say what spiderman said, "Not my problem." But six movies later he's still dealing with the shiotstorm. So watch your back.
