While he still a defensive liability He is tall. This position may work better for him than SF. [I'm thinking along this line in case Shandon leaves] Rocket River ------------------
The defense liability would be too obscene for words. Williams would be unable to stay with even slow SG's, and he doesn't use his height to his advantage. Could you imagine Williams actually preventing even a mediocre guard from getting his shot off consistently? On offense, Williams lacks the speed to play guard as well. He would just stay parked at the 3pt line, which is fine for a SF someitmes, but not for a SG, especially with Houston, as they share ball-handling responsibilities. ------------------ I would believe only in a God who could dance. - Friedrich Nietzsche Boston College - NCAA Hockey National Champions 2001

The zone defense plays right into Walt's strengths (open set shooter) and should help to cover his weaknesses (poor one-on-one defense). ------------------ We used to laugh at Grandpa when he'd head off and go fishing. But we wouldn't be laughing that evening when he'd come back with some w**** he picked up in town.
I would think that both Mo and KT were better front court players than Walt, but the mere fact that someone thinks he is our second best front court player speaks volumes about the shape our front court is in. ------------------
I'd rather see Walt playing for another team. ------------------ You can't stick a porcupine in a barn, light it on fire, and expect to get licorice.
I'd be happier with him in a back up, back up, back up, back up SG role. ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
The mere fact that he: 1. cannot create 2. cannot defend 3. cannot run with even the slowest of SG opponents 4. and that he is almost exclusively a place shooter Makes me shutter at the possibilities. I would sell him for a second round pick and take Det Shrempf (if he doesn't retire, again), Mario(if he doesn't retire), or move Danny Long Legs into the spot, before I would entertain any thoughts of putting him anywhere close to an off guard spot. ------------------
Hey don't knock Walt. He's the best frontcourt player the Rockets have, outside of Dream. Can he guard SGs? I don't think he'll embarass himself next year if the team learns anything about help/team d. ------------------ women love me, fish fear me.
