On most nights, Yao will shoot 50%. So, why get him at least 25 shots , which translates to at least 50-75 touches in the paint minimum figuring there are typically 80-95 possessions per game on average and 1-2 touches on each possession....

This guy will score 30+ per game no matter what he does....he will have off nights, but he will average 30+ and can carry some more load in the shooting department and this will hugely open up the perimeter......

Yao is underachieving in the offensive department IMHO.....

Don't know for sure. Steve Kerr was the color commentator for the Spurs for the game I watched last night on NBALP. You know now I am getting sick at hearing the analysts of the opposing teams keep question the Rockets on the issue of passing the ball to Yao. You know after you hear it hundreds of times, you get sick and don't care any more.

Yeah, it would be tough for anyone to score better than 17ppg on less than 12 fg attempts a night.

    sorry, forgot my point......

I have a very good friend who coaches highschool ball and played professionally and knows many current and former players and coaches in the league...he says he is hearing the same thing being said in this topic.....That Yao has the complete offensive arsenal and efficiency to dominate every night offensively--some are actually fearful the rox will figure it out one day...he may not be flashy and pure muscle, but his skills are a unique blend and should be maximized....he said coaches and players are saying the rockets success lay in Yao ming being the center of the offense, not Steve and do not be surprised if changes are made to suit this.

JVG has to be preaching it, but doing so in a very political way so the point is not getting through.....major balancing act for sure...but just wait for this summer...if it does not stick this year, it will this summer.

I actually feel sorry for Francis. He's been getting lots of bad raps and perhaps some undeserving ones. And he's taking it like a man and not going public with his frustration and making a scene. He's not comfortable in the current situation. You can tell he's hestitating with his shots and not being his normal self. It definitely is hurthing his game right now.

What should happen is for JVG to free Francis and let him iso and get to the hole. And may be relieve him of his pg duty. Anyways, Yao should still make the most shots on this team.

You are right, except for that kissy my Kabooty comment last week!

He still has love in this town. He receives the second loudest ovation at the games, is rated as the most popular male athlete and everyone wants to see him succeed or at least a majority. He also seems like a good guy.

However, he is not getting any more raps than any other star player who is shooting less than 40% on an underachieving team and has one of the the worst assist to turnover ratios for point guards in the league...

But, he is handling it pretty well considering...I personally think he is a poster ont his board too....

I cannot conjure up any more eloquent way to put this, but Francis and Mobley are garbage.

what does that have to do with anything?
anyways.. I like the idea of Yao facing up and while watching the game I could see it can be a bit hard to get the ball to him but Mobley did a great job lobbing it over on one play and I wish they did that more often

    Montgo,

    What makes you say this?

I don't think players would come to this board. They're not gonna be happy reading all this sh!tty comments on here.

Mo tried fronting Duncan for a bit. Then he stopped doing it for some reason. The Rockets don't employ this method enough. It wasn't like Duncan was able to get the ball until Maurice stopped trying to front. I think fronting takes a lot of effort, and everyone knows Maurice is not an "effort" guy.

The fact is Yao has trouble with fronting defenders. I think that has been discussed, but the guy is still able to get more shots now than he did in the past. When he was effectively fronted in the past, Yao would get maybe 10 shot attempts or less. He got 14 yesterday. Actually, Mobley lobbed a beautiful pass right over Rasho that Yao got an put in the basket for an easy bucket. There was one play in which Piatkowski lobbed it over Yao's fronting defender, but Tim Duncan came over from the weakside right when Yao turned around. Yao turned it over. Working on the lob pass is not going to be hard. It just takes time.

Remember that our Guards are not good passers and that the task is mostly beyond their ability when Yao Is not open by himself. This deficiency wasn't noticed when they were playing under Rudy because of the type of Game they were required to play.We need a clean sweep , which I have been asking for, for TWO years now!

Is JVG a strict disciplinarian or NOT

ya'll cannot have it both way

If he is . . .then they doing what say
otherwise he would yank their *sses as soon as they
were not doing what he say

    or

    he is not

    Which is it?

RR, one observation. What happened to Cato? The guy used to be the "teacher's pet", but not getting crucial minutes in the last two games. He was left open on the offense end, he decided that he should take the chance. He did it in the hawks game, did it agian last night. Why did he disobey JVG?

Wherever he may be, whatever he is doing, you just know Carrol Dawson filled his pants upon hearing that...

When Yao doesn't get the ball, Fancy and Cuttino are usually the culprits, but last night, it seemed to me as though the entire team forgot about him in the 2nd half until it was too late. I don't know if it's because JJ wasn't on the floor much.
