Somehow I really wish Steve is shipped out. Maybe we can talk more about really basketball and appreciate him after he is gone.
I thought Francis did decent last night defensively...Guards will occassionally blow by him, but he has learned to hassle them a lot more.....whoever said he lacked lateral quicks is correct, not that he is a slouch, but there are quicker guards out there...overall I would give him an 80% defensively last night
The answer is team defense. As a Spurs fan, I watch the Spurs whenever I can, and I can say that the number of times the opposing PG gets by Tony for an easy basket is a small number. Not because Parker's an exceptional defender, but because Popovich makes sure to have help at the rim. Bowen, Duncan, and Ginobili are superb at leaving their man to intercept the penetrator. No offense, but I can't say the same for your guys. Defensively, you guys could use an upgrade at the forward positions. Jim Jackson guards his man when he has the ball, and that's about it. Kelvin Cato has, since his college days, seemed intent only on blocking shots. The actual idea of keeping your man in front of you appears to be lost on him.
Why don't our big men FLASH enough Watch the games 2 things happen ONE Picks for those guys are stiff and our big men don't show enough TWO steve looks to help too frickin much Steve worry about your man and stop looking in Rocket River
im sure in his previous 4 years of playing, that most pgs did not average 20 pts a game. SO more than likely he did tourch his share of players.
There's only a handful of guards Steve has his way with and thats Derek Fisher(whoever said this man had D didn't know what they're talking about) and Andre Miller.
Is it true Steve was too tall to REALLY excel as a matador in Mexico? That's sad, because he really has "the gift"...
I agree with point two, but not point one. The problem isn't that our big men don't show, it's that nobody knows what to do after that. Does Yao stick with the guard or switch back. Personally, I think Yao should switch back...this takes a more dedicated effort by Steve, Mobley, whoever, to get back to some really solid defense on the guard, and nobody, especially Steve, ever does that.
