I think with Westbrook on this team, keeping EG with his 3-point shooting is a must. Besides, EG has played well for us in the playoffs.

Yeah, being that WB and CP3's salaries match, we're wasting the additional 25% + 100K that we're allowed to take back unless we expand the deal.

If you add in Clark, then our outgoing salary is $39.9M. That means that we are allowed to accept up to $49.975 in return. WB + Covington is $49.8M.

It works salary wise, the question is what is Minnesota willing to take for Covington?

This does not make the rockets a better team.

Is Clark the only player we can add in a similar scenario?

I’m just entertaining some ideas where it might make some sense to do a trade for Iggy.

I mentioned draft picks being involved but yes I agree that it short term makes the team worse. It guts a needed role to add another needed role. Hence why a “trade” for Iggy just makes little sense to me if PJ, Capela, or EG are involved which it seems like they have to be.

For it to make sense it has to be a three team deal and there has to be more than Iggy coming back. Draft picks could help down the line but help in the long run.

If we miss out on Iggy I wonder if we could get Crowder from them instead

No. Not what I said. Iggy and picks that can help in the long run. I’m just trying to see any deals that make any sense to get Moreys perspective here which I don’t really understand unless there’s some way to get him I’m not seeing.

Iggy being crazily overrated. People bringing up Gordon, bringing up using a 1st. PLEASE DON'T DO IT TILLY!.

Shump S&T + two 2nds at MAX. Even then, I wouldn't like it due to Iggy/WB shooting combo. Much rather trade for Marvin Williams and sign Thabo to a vet min.

You think Minnesota will do it for 2 FRP (2020 & 2022)? They also get a $10M TPE.

Pray that one that the Nuggets or Clippers are dumb enough to send a 1st for him.

Iggy would actually be a really nice fit in Den though, since he would be surrounded by shooters with Jokic in the high post.

I'm not clear on what you're asking. Are you asking if you can replace Clark with another player? Or are you wanting to add even more outgoing players?

Basically, you can take back 125% + 100K of what you send out in GUARENTEED salary. Clark may be the only small dollar guarenteed salary that's tradeable right now.

It would almost be criminal NOT to take advantage of the 25%. If nothing else they should take back 2Pat as part of the deal to help out OKC get under the tax and give us a playable guy.

RoCo is my number 1 target here. He would be such a perfect fit.

    This needs it's own thread.

Morey could actually aquire both Covington AND Iggy in this scenario.

    Russ/Rivers
    Harden/EGo
    Iggy/House/Green
    Covington/Tucker
    Capela/TChandler/Harty

Good question, but I don't know the answer. It would certainly be worth investigating. I guess it depends on what Covington's market value is around the league. If he's not a hot commodity, then two firsts, $10M in Salary reduction and a nice TE isn't bad.
