Steve has never been a great defender. Most blame the JVG system but when Yao is out of the line up Steve should step up but doesn't. He had more than enough time to prove it in the THIRD quarter but didn't.

I think its well known to everyone except Steve-only-fans, that his defense still sucks regardless of any negligable improvements he's made this year. Carry on...

at least you can wait until we play Marbury/Kidd/Bibby/Nash to make the announcement. Parker/Ward sucked (5-17 and 7 TOs) last night.

Hey, BTW, Yao sucks in defense also.

Statistically, Kidd/Marbury/Nash have not dominated Steve Francis this season.

but, no Steve's defense is not very good, never has been.

man...Im not about to start claiming SF is some defensive genius....matter of fact...he is just barely average..

    but.

Parker went 5-12 just like SF.
they both had a 1 to 1 assist to turnover night.

And honestly....Parker is one quick little mutha...
as much as it pains me to say it...I wouldnt mind having him if SF doesnt get his sh*t straight by the end of the year.

but he did not make SF look like some CBA reject out there..it is disingenous to suggest that when the evidence(statistically and visually) doesnt bear that out.

btw...Im in mortal pain today....I have admitted in two different threads that I wouldnt mind having Parker or Gino on my team...

    oh the agony! ;)

Yao did good guarding opponent's center. Every player should guard his man, and don't let him have a crash on our big man.

and if he did have a crash, don't blame our big man for bad defense. (am i talking to a lady?)

dude, i watched the entire game and the thing i asked myself the most was:

"how in the hell can parker and gino blow by francis with such ease, and yet francis turn right around and struggle like all holy-hell to get a decent shot?"

i aint just looking at the stats. you and i both know stats don't tell everything about a game, they don't even get close to doing so. parker was torching francis, plain-and-simple.

so answer that question. cause i can't w/o resulting to profanities and insults.

ps - i know you weren't refering to me, but i felt inclined to respond.

I'm not a Spurs fan, but I do watch their games. Tony Parker blows by everybody. He's quicker than AI off the dribble in my opinion. He might be the quickest guard in the league.

All of you guys who are as proud as peach to have watched the game, if you watch NBA, you'll see that point guards are the hardest players to guard off the dribble. Gary Payton is really the only point guard who was able to keep his man consistenly in front of him.

I wonder why Steve stops blowing by everybody or scoring.

It always puzzles me how could someone with so much athleticism, such awesome crossover or at least used to be, and good lateral movement offensively speaking, could blown by most PGs in the league. Its not like he got picked off by another guy most of the time. Its really hard to find a good reason.

All of you guys are right, Steve has never had a good game against an opposing point guard in his entire career.
