who would you pick and i we need to get SF and PF that can play or you want to keep this same group that we have not that still can not get out that is still stuck in the same place as we were last year and this year because we still did not do anything yet
nah if we don't get westbrick, i'd want him to go east. less competition for us. west is too tough already
Since most this board think Paul > Westbrook Send Paul to Minnesota for Covington, Teague. Solves Forward problem, serviceable backup PG on expiring contract. Flexibility at deadline or next year.
This is were I disagree, when we traded he was top 10 /15 over all in the league. If we look at what is and not what was—> he was an average starter last year. That is a very big decent and we haven’t even talked about salary yet. When was the last time the T-wolves were not dysfunctional? Sam Cassell years, then back to dysfunctional again. Wiggins only know his situation because it’s all he had been exposed, too. I am sure his dad has had influence on him and would shine even more in a Scottie Pippen type role next to Harden.
You are undervaluing what Chris is when you say average starter. That’s simply not true if you look at any of the metrics associated with winning. Carmelo from 538 have his value at $50 million or something this year and 110 on the remaining value of his contract. He’s still worth above average win shares/plus minus is fine, he still does lots of stuff well. He might continue to call or he might stabilize. Stockton was just fine into his 40 year old season. A guy like Andre Miller was valuable until he was almost 40. Pail was never an elite athlete and always had an old man game. Now he might crater and be a black hole but he hasn’t yet. He just moved from all nba type in year 1 to top 50 in year 2. If he stabilized he will be fine
Just looked up Chris Paul advances numbers: 12th in real plus minus (I think overstates due to his time with second units) 29th in total win shares Top 40 in defensive RPM Slightly lower in offensive RPM No lower than 11th amongst all PG in any category. Yeah dude- that’s a top 50 player any way you slice it. And a winning player. Will he stay that way for 3 years? Maybe. Maybe not. But he’s still better than Wiggins will be this year and the point is to try to win a title right now.
Raptors needs to join big to get champion. It is a trend and key for champion. Just 2 big cannot do anything. It needs 5 positions able to get points and strong
I'm aware a four team deal can be accomplished, but not including the Houston Rockets. The Rockets can barely get a second team to deal. Three team deals are NEVER done when it comes to the Rockets. To propose a FOUR team deal that would benefit the Rockets might be worthy of a fantasy book spin off.
This scenario isn't a deal that primarily benefits the Rockets. They would just be helping to facilitate a deal between Minnesota and OKC. It's not like teams are actively boycotting dealing with the Rockets. Instead it's been what we've been able to offer in the proposed deals.
They aren't going to dump a cheap rookie contract for a local player they love. That's the type of contract they keep. They only dumped Grant because he has a player option next year and is neither eligible for an extension nor likely to resign if they are rebuilding. They can easily get under the salary cap before the trade deadline with their expirings.
i actually really like this. get someone like covington any way you can. would definitely flip a 1st and or gordon for him.
Yes, let's try to acquire an overrated chucker who can't create off-the dribble and give away the other player (Gordon) on our team who's a great floor spacer and who can actually beat his man off the dribble create/attack the basket. BTW, Gordon is also one of our best on ball defender.
Robert Covington is not a chucker. He’s an elite defender at the small-forward position that shoots a high volume of three-point shots at a solid percentage (38% in 2018, 37% in 2017).
I don't know man. The value he brings in having such a small fall off from Harden when James sits for 12-14 minutes a game, and when James rests off the ball is pretty huge. That's part of what makes us a top 5 team in the league. Also, he's still a pretty good defender.
