I remember in 99 (the quitten year) we had a fairly good amount of NBC/TNT games... but NONE OF THEM WERE AT HOME. When you put two good teams together (as most national tv games are), the home team is going to win most of them. I think this further fueled the stereotype that the "Rockets don't do well on national TV." They were already at a disadvantage, as they were on the road. That was the last year (before this one) that we had a good amount of national TV exposure... so based on that, we've come a long way in terms of our success.
I loved playing the Bulls on national TV, especially the game right after when Rodman kicked the photographer. We matched up with those guys so well. I'm still pissed we never got a shot at them in the Finals. Stupid Jazz.
Yup..everytime they say who we gonna play, they go it will be yao mings Houston Rockets aganist .....
Yep, totally agree. In fact, I remember that even back in the glory days of 93, 94, 95, during the regular season we almost ALWAYS played on the road on national TV. Seemed that we always played the Suns or Sonics on the road and we always lost.
I got that game on tape, that was a classic. Barkley didnt play either and Willis kinda had a career game. I remember Sam Mack being called for a blocking foul on Jordan and Rudy went ballistic and got a T. I think that was also the year were Rudy won that game to solidfy his coaching spot on the West Allstar Team.
A few weeks ago, they actually had 5 games in 2 weeks. I know because I live in Utah and it was like Christmas.
I'm glad for the pub, but I know I've seen the Cavs on more than anyone...Evertime I turn on ESPN, it seems its Lebron this, Lebron that... BTW, he's overrated...
Funny. I remember one of the main topics on this board back in the day was that the media always ignored the Rockets. During the Championship years and after, it seemed we were never on National TV.
Heh. I like how we're reminiscing about the "good old days" of national tv coverage from earlier this season , as if it was some by-gone ear long ago. "I remember, long ago, back in that cold winter of 2003, long before the shadow of the Blazers appeared, the Rockets were on television four times in . . ."
