A six-year-old girl with an IQ of 138 has become the youngest current member of Mensa. (Picture: www.mensa.org)

Chloe Bennion, from Wednesfield, West Midlands, has been accepted into the organisation for the UK's most intelligent people.

The youngster is one of only 26 members in the 27,000-strong club under the age of ten.

Mensa spokeswoman Caroline Garbett said: "It is more of a hurdle to get into Mensa under the age of ten because we don't test children under that age.

"However, she did undergo tests by a child psychologist which demonstrated her intelligence and she was accepted on that basis."

Chloe is not the youngest member to have joined Mensa. In 1997, Dineshi Nirgunananthan, from Hanworth, west London, was accepted when she was just three with an IQ of 158.

For some reason, I feel very sad for that little girl.

Shouldn't this be in the "How Much of a Snob are You?" thread?

Not because of the girl, but because of her parents.

I'd love to know what the 3 year old eventually accomplishes in life. Most of the child geniuses in today's world don't do anything spectacular. Too many choices and options compared to Mozart's time I guess.

maybe if they were tortured somehow then that would motivate these underachieving child prodigies of today

a cage with no food for a week should provide ample motivation or may mommy and daddy paying no attention to the child could work too. pushing the child too hard could cause a rebellion, but paying no attention will cause the child to work harder in order to get mommy and daddy to love the attention starved child prodigy....yes my plan is beginning to make sense.

my hours and hours of studying are making me demented....back to studying i will go

But wouldn't she have to join NAMGLA or even NAWGLA instead?

Actually, it is real. They've been around for a while. There are some creepy people out there.

Maybe Michael Jackson is providing the funding?

Are you smart or dumb if you join these, becasue essentially you are paying someone to acknowledge that you are in the top 2%. You can figure this out for free in highschool. Especially if you are genius.

But my real question is this, if the mother of a 3 year old genius doesn't tell the three year old she's a genius does the 3 year old genius already know.

No kidding. See, those people who are barely in the top 2% - they're so stupid they have to pay someone to affirm it and then they have to go around showing it off, talking about it, and trying to associate only with other geniuses.

The real geniuses are above and beyond all that. We hide in all kinds of corners. Don't be fooled by our common appearance or the stupid things we do to fool you. When we take over the world, it will be in such a quiet and subtle way that you'll never suspect a thing. :D
