What type of offense do we see for next year?
What should the look to do Offensively
I think this will affect the off season
    moves/draft more than anything

What type of Defensive should the Rockets Employ?

What do you think they should do?

I want some Trapping and Pressing - Playing
    the Passing lanes.
I think zone Defenses will be revolutinized
[by rudy t no doubt. . .] Remember what the
Zone Blitz did in football . . .

I want see the ISO still . . .see what the defense
    does. . . . .

you know i've been thinking (dangerous, i know [IMG] ),

if teams play a zone against the rocket guards, they get barbecued. zones are gimmick defenses that allow you to be a lazy schmuck and not play up on your man. it keeps you from truly moving your feet.

being that we have 2 of the quickest guards in the nba, who can shoot from any distance, and have good ballhandling skills, we should pick teams apart - that is if cato, kt, motay, et al can catch the rock and hit shots.

to answer your question, i'd like to see us continue with the motion offense we were developing last year. also, i'd like to see steve francis attack the middle - as opposed to the baselines - more often. if steve attack baseline next year as frequently as he did this year, he'll be called a bust. a flash in the pan.

however, if he attacks the middle of the court he can pick zone/lazy defenses apart, and be an allstar.

I like that too. . . . .I mean I wanna see more picks and back picks worked into the motion. . . .

On defense I really think more trapping and pressing is the way to go.

trapping and pressing would be ok, too. however, i believe that it's necessary to have a shot-blocking mobile center in order to run a truly effective trapping/pressing defense.

typically, the C ends up playing "center field" along with the power forward. this, IMO, underlines the importance of kelvin cato. i know most of us h8 to hear his name, but i'm not quite ready to dismiss him. as much as he frustrates me, i'm willing to give him another try. he could be SO effective in an aggressive, attacking defense.

I see the rockets playing man on the perimeter. The big men will drop around the paint one on either side to avoid 3 seconds. This will give the guards backup if they get caught covering to tightly.

I like the zone Seattle used in the 90's under Karl. Close enough to your man to keep him from getting open looks, but taking away the passing lanes.

I would like to see many different looks so that the opposing team will have to use different plays against different zones.

I'm with verse on cato. I know he sucked, but if he could commit to doing better we can be deadly. Especially if Dream and Mo return.
