You're right about that. Not having bird rights to buyout guys on minimum deals is a killer, we might get lucky with a discount to bring back Rivers this summer, but it's likely not gonna happen, and if Faried had been good enough where we wanted to keep him and he attracted attention elsewhere, we certainly couldn't have kept them both. Unfortunately, what's the alternative? Austin Rivers was on a $10m contract at Washington. We don't have the cap space for that. Iguadala is on $17m at the Warriors/Grizzlies, and he isn't a free agent anyway. You have to think of buyouts as found money, because it's players we could never hope to get in the summer and we get the bonus of having them for a season, if we can't keep them past that, that's unfortunate but doesn't diminish their value. We can't rely on them solely, but the NBA is a salary cap league, it's designed this way for a reason.
Unless someone offered him way more money, why would Iguodala not come here? Starting spot, top contender, we’re not giving him the minimum either. Not many teams that can win a championship are gonna offer him a starting spot
iggy isn't exactly as durable as he was in previous years. rockets don't have money. not sure what you think they're going to pay him with if not min
Taxpayer MLE. I know he’s not as durable but did he or did he not play the entire playoffs this year?
Scary Terry gets <20/yr and Iggy is out of line? DLo gets maxed and Iggy is out of line? Love gets 2X more and has years more of it and Iggy is out of line? (Aside) whatever Dubs'll be this year they won't be complacent, they won't be bored; they will be interesting. But, will they be good? As in really good? Iggy is a big loss 'culturally'.
All of the names you listed are either flat out better or at least have an argument for upside over Iggy.
Iggy put up 20 + and made big shots in the 4th in their game 6 loss to Toronto. This guy has ice-water in his veins when it comes to playoff time.
