Grant Hill has a no trade clause, if the NY POST did report this, then that is unresponsible journalism. They need to do their research.

Thus ORL has little to give for a S%T,,but so do the Rockets

But the Rocks have a better chance because they can offer WEBBER more bones

The NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement prohibits no-trade clauses until a player has 8 years in the league AND 4 years of service with the team. Grant Hill should NOT have a no-trade clause in his current contract (at least not until its 5th year).

Remember that Orlando acquired Grant Hill in a sign and trade deal. That means that his current contract was signed with Detroit, where he did have 4 years of service.

Grant may want the trade. Next year, he will have to share the wing and spotlight with MacGrady. He may not want to do this.

He has only been in the league 7 years. So if he does indeed have a no trade clause, it can't kick in until after the 2001-2002 season.

Grant Hill doesn't seem like that kind of dude, I'm sure he loved seeing McGrady step it up because now he knows he doesn't have to carry the Magic on his back the way he had to carry the Pistons.

aelliott-but that means he was traded right after receiving a no-trade clause. This would be a case of whether a clause like that can be used and unused at anytime. My guess is that once you waive the clause, it's waived for good.

I imagine there's a difference somewhere between a "no trade" clause and a "right of refusal" clause. He probably can refuse being traded to certain teams as he chooses.

Didn't Hill hate sharing the spotlight with Stackhouse?

I don't believe that's true. I *know* it isn't in baseball, but am not sure in basketball. Generally, no-trade clauses just require the player to sign-off on the deal. They're not waiving a right... the no-trade clause just gives them the ability to pick and choose.

Besides, why the heck would the trade clause have been included otherwise? He was going to Orlando immediately after signing along the dotted line.

I expect the trade clause is stll in effect.

I don't think he ever hated it, but he didn't exactly love it.

He would rather have a star big man down low, than a star "2" right next to him.
