There are so many Butler threads that I didn't know which to put this in but found this on reddit:

Idk what rumors are true or if any are, but if Butler decides to come here and Capela is traded looks like we are putting in work to start filling roster spots.

I struggle to get the logics straight.

Because this guy is right about almost everything he said wrt the lakers, therefore the Rockets definitely should get Jimmy Butler?

Because my colleague will order a burger for lunch, now I will have to order Sushi at noon?

    ??????

    that's a horrible comparison

dude compared lunch to 2 competitive basketball teams

    o_O

and yes, we need Butler to keep up.

The Lakers are in a nice position because they have the cap space to sign someone to the max. If they cannot get Leonard, they can just work their way down the pecking order....... down to Butler and even D'Angelo Russell.

Not only a horrible comparison but also an unnecessary one. He already explained it perfectly well without a comparison.

If Butler didn't want to come here, he would have already made that known, so he's at least open to the idea.

This is what I'm hanging on to. Add to that: Jim and Jimmy are good friends. We all remember when Morey was going after KD; Harden made a call to his good friend and immediately told Morey not to waste his time. He hasn't told Morey that yet.

So there is still hope even with all the moving and shaking going on.

Even if we get Butler we are not going to compete with Lebron/Davis/Kawhi unfortunately. If that happens it’s a wrap.

If I was getting a max regardless of the team I’d definitely choose LA over Houston

Idk how jimmy would choose us over the lakers or clippers

home is where the heart is...Jimmy dreamed of playing for the Rockets as a child, not the Lakers or Clippers

I know it doesn't mean much so take it fwiw. I talked to a dude that grew up him and he said Jimmy wants to go to LA.

I mean, Lebron is 187 years old, Kwahi might or might not have to amputate his leg and AD is essentially made out of tissue paper. Are they better than us if fully healthy? Yeah, probably so. But I wouldn't assume that it will play out that way, and a lot can happen between now and mid/late May (and yes, I'm aware that CP3's hamstrings are held together with duct tape and bailing wire and PJ Tucker is the same age as Lebron).

But yeah, this isn't totally a wrap or anything if the Rockets add to the arms race (for that matter, I still think a starting 5 of Harden, Paul, Tucker, EGO and Capella, if you could have quality bench to 8 men would be capable of beating that squad) or the Lakers get a little dinged.
