Since when is us losing to the Mavs a new concept? They're just a better team.

Still.... it's freaking annoying to see us up 15 early after one and then 15 down after 3. That's just sloppy guys. You will forever be owned by Dallas until you prove to us that you can at least compete somewhat. Seriously, I NEVER expect a W when we play the Mavs.

Mobley needs to stop taking quick shots. He's giving Mavs fast break points.

Yea, I just don't understand this team (coach) Yao was scoring inside and jackson was hitting 3's and they just sit Yao for the next 10 minutes and put him back in when they lead by 6. Just so dumbbbbbb!!!!!!!!!!

The big guy had the hot hands and getting good position inside and let all that momemtum out the window. Instead of spearing the Mavs JVG when he had the chance he shot his team in the foot putting mark jakson in and allowing him to hit 3 point bricks. man what a coaching debacle.

Exactly... I don't care who's taking the shots on our team, but if our defense gives up 31 points in consecutive quarters... there's no way we're going to win the game.

Our defense is too good to allow that. Dallas has pushed the ball up every single time since the 1st quarter, and now allowed Houston's defense to get set.

Our quick shots aren't helping that either.

JVG did a good job in terms of stop the bleeding (like timeouts and so forth), but very bad job in terms of placing a dagger down the opponents throats. I guess he shows sympathy toward the Mavs for shooting (.15%) early in the 1st quarter and were down as much as 16 points. Well, that's just bad coaching. It's not just JVG, all coaches did that actually and i hate to see it. It's like when they play soooo damm well, they think they can just rest some of the starters because they deserver early breather. But that's like giving the other team some lives. I hate coaching like that. I want the authoritarian approach of putting a dagger down the opponents' throats, humiliate them and so forth because that's how you win games!!!

Yao normally comes out with 3 minutes left in 1stQ not 5:49

oliver_67, being up in the 1st means nothing. Teams make adjustments.

The fact is that the Mavs play excellent up-tempo ball. The Mavs play good half-court ball.
The Rox play bad up-tempo ball. The Rox play above-average half-court ball (we're not that good in the half-court).

    Defense is our strong point.

This just shows that we are a one-dimensional team. And even if we played exclusive "half-court game" we'd still struggle. Something has to change. Our offensive is just too erratic. Regardless if we are playing the Mavs or not. I will NEVER get used to the idea of having TWO shooting guards on the floor at the same time (Francis/Mobley).

Well, it's pretty much over. The Rockets just can't beat Dallas, one of the softest defensive teams in the league. All they do is throw that zone defense and the Rockets just freeze up.

It varies (based on his energy level)... but regardless, they maintained their lead to finish out that 5:49.

Maybe not having him in to start the the second wasn't the best thing to do, but there are FAR more reasons why we lost the game, rather than Yao and Steve getting a breather.

    1. Offensive rebounding (26-6 advantage on second chance points)
    2. Inability to break their "zone" (allowing them to take ALL of our inside shooters away, esp. Yao).
    3. Not getting back on defense, as dallas continued to push the ball up.
    4. Refs calling flops against Yao
    5. Turnovers

Mavs will still be an early 1st round exit with their overrated basketball team in the playoffs.

How the heck can you be up by 16 pts, then all of a sudden be down by 17 ?????

    That's a 33 pt. swing!!

The Rockets have difficulty breaking down the zone. I was expecting some new plays to do so but haven't seen that much except for Yao having the ball in the high-post and trying to feed it in to a cutter underneath the basket.

Disappointed in the outcome so far but not surprised. We need to find a way to beat the zone differently besides relying on our outside shooting which is too streaky.

i also thought that even in the first quarter the ball movement and fluidity went down the gutter after francis start doing his one on one thing and actually made a shot...but it killed the ball movement and momentum
