If this is true, Jerry West is a better GM then we'd imagined.

Perhaps the trade was with Orlando?

    Malone...but he's gone now

Stockton, I think, is the only player who had his entire career in Utah but he's white

Well, honestly Giricek is a better fit for them. Gugliotta is probably just to unload some salary.

Gugliotta has one of the worst contracts in the NBA. Worse yet he was a benchwarmer for the Suns. Think of Moochie on the Rockets benchwarming. Then up his contract a few mil to make it worse.

Technically Raja Bell is considred foreign like Tim Duncan because they are from the Virgin Islands, So Mo Williams, Michael Ruffin and Mikki Moore are the only African Americans on the roster.

Except that his contract ends this year, right? Plus, they got a pair of 1st round picks. All they lost was a player who wasn't likely to be there long-term anyway. For a team not in the playoff race anyway, it's a great move for the future.

    1. Giricek does fit Sloan's system far better than Stevenson. Remember Horny?

    2. If there is any actual 'racism' involved, and i doubt it, could it actually be a business move? Utah certainly isn't known for it's black populace. It could be they're only catering to their crowd. (however, I still doubt this. I think it's probably just happenstance)

    3. If they are indeed racist, why in gods name did they draft Stevenson in the first place? Aside from the fact he's an african american he's straight out of highschool and has been in trouble. We're not talking about a kid like Kobe Bryant who came out of highschool as the valevictorian.

    4. They traded an injured Keon Clark for Tom Gugliotta and two first round draft picks. First of all, the Jazz lack size at forward. This could help them some. Especially with Harpring injured. Secondly, The draft picks were what the Jazz actually wanted but they're so far under the cap that having Gugliotta on the roster doesn't come even close to hurting them. (though if they eventually draft two white players with those picks I'll go ahead and throw in the towel on this one and agree with you :D )

    5. Don't racists traditionally harbor as much animosity towards foreigners as they do minorities?

I've never really seen DeShawn play, but hope he breaks out and rubs it in Larry Millers face.

I hope he has a Tmac and J'Oneal like breakout! :D

Would you still be racist towards black folks if you had to be around Greg Ostertag for nine years?

You know, if they parlay those picks into players, that could be a really good, sound team. They have these guys

    Arroyo, Lopez,
    Giricek, Bell, Pavlovic
    Harpring, AK 47, Moore
    Kirilenko, Collins, Ruffin
Ostertag, Borchardt (who was playing well before going down).

They need a few big guys. It's nice Kirilenko can play so many positions. They can take whatever talent is there regardless.

Add 2 lotto picks and 2 other first rounders? They should really improve. Plus they'll have a bunch of cap room. They'll be able to deal.

If Phoenix was willing to give up two 1st rounders to avoid the luxury tax, maybe the Rockets should have swooped in with their trade exception. Two first round draft picks, one of which should be a late lotto pick in this years draft, is a pretty good deal for giving up nothing.

I saw this, but the thing that surprises me is that the Suns are giving up everthing for nothing in return...Just like Barkely said, you rebuild with Draft Picks and they gave that up...

I understand the perception about Utah and the Jazz, but that's not the reality.

They signed both Maggette and Jason Terry to offer sheets this past summer. They made offers to Elton Brand and Andre Miller

Of the last 7 free agents signed by the Jazz (NBA vets) only Harpring was white.

Raja Bell, Danny Manning, John Starks, Tony Massenburg, Mark Jackson and Calbert Cheaney were all black.

You can say the Jazz traded Stevenson for Giricek, but Clark was not traded for Googs. He was traded for 3 draft choices.

Am I the only one that thinks Giricek is just a better player than Stevenson?

And it is hard to dispute superjazzfan's facts about the offers. If you call someone racist, better be able to back it up.

Then again, it's the Utah Jazz...alright, call them racist, even if it's not true! :D

yeah, because the league is already 95% white right? LOL Maybe he is looking at the "fundamentally sound" part instead of the flashy dunkathon most young guys are so caught up in.

But I do believe I have heard it all... lol a current team in the NBA is racist for having too many fundamentally sound white guys... rofl irony of ironies... Charlotte/New Orleans fan?
