So, let me get this straight... I wouldn't want to be anything but unusually thoughtful and measured. You are looking for a thread and/or comments that are critical of the Democratic candidates and would praise, in comparison, George W. Bush? By the Democrats, Independents and Moderate Republicans of the board?

I can only speak for myself. I've been following Bush Junior's career long before he became Governor of Texas. His father being a Houston congressman, where I spent the majority of my life, and the UN ambassador, the Director of the CIA, the Vice-President, the President... anyone involved in politics with a keen interest in same couldn't help but follow the career of George W. Bush.

It's no secret here that his business dealings failed, that he got out of them with a bit of an odor, and that friends of his father set him up for the ripe windfall of his "ownership" of the Rangers. That, and much else. Knowing all that, I can find very little to praise him for.

In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, he handled himself well. The Afghan War was a successful exercise, although the aftermath of it is still in doubt. But I don't think he handled those two things any better than the man who out-polled him, a man I have criticised, Al Gore, and some would disagree... I wouldn't have a serious argument about it. Bush did all right.

But I can't think of anything else that I would admire him for, and I can't think of anything I would hold up and say, "Bush is good at this and Kerry/Clark/Dean/Edwards would be lousy." Sorry. Is that what you are looking for? I just don't admire your guy. I know too much about him.

John Kerry has more flip-flops than a beachfront Wal-Mart.

Deckard summed up my thought's on Bush exactly. Though I will add that before things got so out of control bad with him, he could be funny.

    Why bother.

Getting something intelligent out of rrj_gamz on this BBS is like getting a Mallard duck to **** out a Tiffany cufflink.

In simpler terms, for the rrj_gamz's of the world, it's impossible.

So you're Catholic and a fan of Ayn Rand at the same time?

deck- i wasn't so much looking for praise for W as i was a critical look at kerry/edwards/clark/dean, etc, that stoop on its own, that wasn't comparing him to one of the other candidates. a hypothetical example:

that sort of thing. try it- it's liberating.

Don't you guys ever get tired?

Kerry has been a senator. Flip-flops are the name of the game.

Oh yeah, you guys are all stupid because I say so. The proof of stupidity lies in you being stupid. Stupid.

    Let me edit your punctuation.

Oh yeah, you guys! Are all stupid because I say so? The proof of stupidity. Lies. In you being stupid, stupid? (obviously there is no help for this last sentence, you seem to have made a grammar error. Are you being stupid?)

Obviously, I have proved your point. :)

Considering that Sullivan is gay, no it doesn't surprise me that he doesn't think gay marriage should be constitutionally outlawed.

He's a gay dyed in the wool conservative.

basso, would you mind editing your post so that it doesn't appear as an actual quote from me? I enjoy humor and I don't mind at all if you put something in quotes, using me as an example of what you're trying to get across. But a casual reader would think that was a real quote from me, which, of course, it's not. :)

    Thanks.

i would of thought that the use of the word "hypothetical" would have gotten that point across, but check it now and tell me if it meets your approval.
