Another point I'd like to add is that most folks here don't take into account salaries when looking at a player's value. Here's an analogy. Steve Francis' contract is like Park Place, but the returns sometimes are similar to rent from Connecticut Avenue. It's the duties of NBA GMs to find the undiscovered gems. If anyone can get a player at Baltic Avenue prices but get Marvin Gardens return, that's great.

I can't believe you used the board game monopoly to compare NBA basketball players

Don't see what your infactuation with Steve Blake is ... are you a fan of slow white point guards? Houston has had their fair share of them [Maloney, Drew..]

Steve Blake is nothing like Hinrich. Hinrich is a playmaker with an excellent 3 pt shot. Blake shoots 6 shots a game, which are shots that the defense gives him. Those shots are NOTHING comparable to the shots that Francis takes, considering Francis is a first option and a [one focal point, not THE] focal point of opposing defenses.

Steve Blake barely plays above scrub minutes and you are talking about him as if hes our point guard of the future. Give me a break

Can we stop with the Steve Blake already? Sheesh. He makes exactly what he's worth. Shake a tree and you'll find 10 PG's with his skill level. Trust me, it's no great feat to log minutes with the Wizards on the wrong end of 25-point routs. Please.

I have been reading comments for almost a year now dogging Steve. I am sick of it. I feel that, while he may be having a bad shooting year, there is a lot to be said for the maturity that he has shown. He's scraficing the game that he plays for the team. He's taking all of the slack for the 5 man team. It seems that the fans of Houston all want to point fingers. This team and Steve in particularly have came in under a new coach with new rules and a new stlye of play and played well. This should be a year of rebuilding but has turned into a playoff year, be thankful. As for his comment, I live in NC, but I've read the comment and just as anyone who is costantly criticized in the public he defended himself. He should have told EVERYONE who is not satusfied to kiss his a***. Your position has nothing to do with the situation when people who've never picked up a basketball are telling you how to play the game. Have any of these people gone to the doctor and told them how to do their job? Since he neglected to do so I'll help him out, kiss his a** if you don't like him.

What dont bring that bull **** up, i'v been hearing that for the last 4 freaking years. & FYI this year was NOT about rebuilding it was about the Rox making the playoffs so was last year, that is why Rudy T. got canned remember that? I am not thankful for this team making the playoffs at all because this is where there suppose to be. I will however be thankfull if we get out of the first round. Oh and by the way WELCOME to the BBS

Speaking of Houston fans, on 610AM this morning there was a trivia question for a prize. "Who was the last team the Rockets faced in the Playoffs" TWENTY FOUR people called in before they got the right answer.

in the dictionary a street person is this:

    street person

n : someone who sleeps in any convenient place [syn: dosser]

    dosser

n : someone who sleeps in any convenient place [syn: street person]

I allways thought a street person is someone who lived on the street...Steve was just expressing some pent up anger, which is natural... Its better for Steve's well being that he expresses how he feels opposed to holding it in. A lot of your people lack understanding, and are allways so quick to judge. Whats more important Steves emotional status or the way he talks??

    How foolish.

Incidentally, that would relegate us all to never criticizing any professional basketball player. Or, in fact, any member of a profession for their performance when we're not one of their peers.

Of course, the necessary corrollary is that we're not qualified to compliment good performance, either... as we're not able to properly evalute it, as non-professionals. Interesting.

So, people on the BBS, by your logic, must stop praising and criticizing players. The only posts we'd have would be about bobbleheads and Big Macs...

There only about 14 teams in the Western Conference.

At least 4 of those teams did not make the playoffs 5 seasons ago (my guess Denver, Vancouver, Clippers and Golden State). So that lives us with 10 guesses.

Now can can 23 callers not be able to come up with the right team after the 9th caller and the 9th or 10th guess/try ? I guess non of them were listening to the radio.

PS. I am not sure which team we played 5 seasons ago in the playoffs. My first guess is Utah Jazz. Second guess..........

The Lakers in the strike shortened season. Everyone should remember Pippen falling down. And the callers were calling on the contest line so you couldn't hear them on the radio, so that's why some people kept making the same guesses. The hosts of the show were the ones who said how many calls it took for someone to get the right answer.
