I should add: this [the story from the OP] is a horrible, tragic story; which also raises important right-to-suicide questions, which I think was OS's intent.

 

Have you considered that some people may have history with regards to the topics OP likes to pontificate/ponder about? Maybe if they assume that s/he just wants to kill away boredom with proposing topics to people for the sake of initiating a discussion so that s/he could entertain her/himself and present some well informed rebuttals (butt!) later, then it might rub these people a wrong way due to personal painful experiences? Just a random passing thought here.

 

Some of the articles he posts are fine, some are pure and simple crap. It isn't because I agree or disagree with them either. It is because they make statements that have already been debunked don't follow logic or are based on suppositions without any basis in evidence. They are actually a detriment to this board.

Other articles he posts even when I disagree are fine.

Sadly I think they are all posted for simply for trolling purposes.

 

what kind of pain are we talking about? emotional or physical?

 

This is a sad situation all the way around. I'm not going to judge anyone period. I'm even less inclined or qualified to pass judgment in a case like this.
