    I was roaming at another website when I picked up this piece of supposedly talk between Yang Yi & Yao Ming:

    "..................

    ÎÒºóÌì¾Í»ØÈ¥ÁË£¬ÔÛÃǼ¾ºóÈü¼û¡£

    Yi: I am going back the day after tomorrow, see you in play offs

    ¡¡¡¡Äã¾ÍÄÇôȷ¶¨ÎÒÃÇÄܽø¼¾ºóÈü£¿

    Yao: Are you so certain (rockets) will be in the playoffs?

    ¡¡¡¡ÕâÓÐʲôÄѵģ¬ÄãÃDz»ÊǵÚ7¾ÍÊǵÚ8,¹ý²»Á˵ÚÒ»ÂÖ¡£

    Yi: Not so difficult, Rockets will be either 7th of 8th, but won't make it pass the first round

    ¡¡¡¡Äã¾ÍÄÇôȷ¶¨ÎÒÃǹý²»Á˵ÚÒ»ÂÖ£¿

    Yao: You are so sure we won't go beyond round 1?

    ¡¡¡¡²»ÐŶĶĿ´¡£ÄãÓÐʲôÀíÓɹýµÚÒ»ÂÖ£¿

    Yi: Wanna a bet? Why do you think we won't make it to the 2nd round?

    ¡¡¡¡ÎÒ¾õµÃ¾ÍÏñµ±³õÎÒÃÇÉϺ£¶Ó£¬Ã»½øÇ°ËÄ֮ǰ¾ÍÒ»²ã´°»§Ö½Ã»Í±ÆÆ£¬½á¹ûÎÒÃǵÚÒ»´Î½øËÄÇ¿¾Í½øÁË×ܾöÈü¡£»ð¼ý¶ÓÈ¥Äêû½ø¼¾ºóÈüÒ²ÊÇÒ»²ã´°»§Ö½£¬½ñÄê˵²»¶¨»á·¢ÉúʲôÊÂÇé¡£

    Yao: I feel like Shang Hai Sharks. Before the semi-finals every thing seems like a window paper, but then we went all the way to the finals. Rockets making the playoffs is like the window paper, nobody knows what happens this year.

    ¡¡¡¡ºÃ°¡£¬Èç¹ûÄãÃǽøÁ˼¾ºóÈü£¬ÎÒÇëÄã³ÔÁúϺ¡£

    Yi: Good, if you make the play offs, I will take you to lobster dinner.

    ¡¡¡¡Óò»×Å£¬ÎÒÌôÑù¶ù¶«Î÷¡£ÎÒÒªÔÚ±±¾©³Ô×îÕý×ÚµÄÉϺ£ÄÏÏèµÄСÁý°ü£¬¶øÇÒÎÒ¾ÍÒªÒ»¸ö¡£ÒªÊÇÎÒÃǽøÁ˵ڶþÂÖ£¬Äã¾ÍµÃÈ¥ÉϺ£¸øÎÒÂò»ØÀ´¡£ÕⶫÎ÷²»¹ó°É£¿¿ÉËü±ÈÁúϺÕä¹ó¶àÁË¡£(ÑîÒã)

    Yao: Thanks but no. I 'd like the authentic Shang Hai Nan Xiang little dumplings in Beijing, and I only want one. If we make the 2nd round, you go to Shanghai to buy it. It's not expensive, right? But it's more precious than lobster.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I know a lot of us had been skeptical of Yang Yi's articles, well, you be the judge: did this conversation really happen?
    This reported has been widely quoted in several newspapers.
    :confused:
    I've never been skeptical of Yang Yi's articles... and I'm still struggling to understand those that are. Is there something that I missed? Can anyone point to a particularly suspicious incident?
    It's a simple matter of fact that Yao's a very different person "in Chinese" than he is "in English"; there's just a strong cultural/language barrier that prevents the American public from understanding Yao fully. He's not showy, but he is surely a confident young man who's always had strong opinions.
    He is anything but the shy quiet kid who sits in the back of the bus.
    i especailly want to know where jeff got his idea that yang yi has no credibility. as jeff once said "sina is a fine news source but to talk about yangyi's creditbiilty is like to talk about journalism with jason". (no. the last part i made it up though).
    Yang Yi has lots of credibility than most posters here. It just happens that Yao talks totally differently with him from when he talks with American media.
    And I agree with Yao. Rockets with JVG is perfectly built for playoffs. Half-court slow game, where defense wins. Besides, every playoff game is on national TV, so they will be fully focused!
    This is a very good observation. And what make this very interesting is that Yang Yi happen to be a 'Chinese media'.
    ...It just happens that Yao talks totally differently with him from when he talks with American media...
    Isn't it Shang Hai Nan Xiang little pork buns instead of dumplings? Also why would he want to go to Beijing to buy a Shanghai dish?
    But thanks for the good read any ways olliez, btw, are you chinese? Your translation was really good.
    no edit,sorry about the new post
    as for credibility of the article,considering good relationship between Yao and him,and they had several talks during the ASG,Im convinced hes telling the truth.
    Im glad to see that Yao gained strength,courage and confidence by every game against strong opponents.and whats even better,as Yao said,he gained confidence from his teammates.It seems that Rockets is playing a team game,what a big difference!with a team like that,why wont we go beyond round 1?;)
    I know, but why does he want them from Beijing? Any Shanghainese knows the best Nan Yang Pork Buns is in Cheng Huang Miao in Shanghai. It's like going to Shanghai and ordering the Peking Duck (which isn't bad, a lot less fat than the ones in Beijing, hmmm how does pork buns taste in beijing, ok now I'm just rambling).
    It's good, i think they cook the meatballs in a soup, froze it or something, then put it in the buns. So when you bite into the bun, there's juices coming out that you have suck on. You can get it in China in houston at a couple of restaurants, but I haven't seen one in the U.S. that's nearly as authentic.
    Yao means that Yang Yi has to go to Shanghai to buy it and bring it back Beijin. Yao spends most time in Beijin with the national team.
    Yangyi's realtionship with Yao is the real deal. I just got a book in Shanghai written by Yangyi about Yaoming(sponsored by China Unicom, a mobile phone company that signed a two year deal with Yao).
    Sort of like an unofficial biography of Yaoming. Unofficial because Yaoming said the official biography rights has been sold to ESPN for 1.5M USD, and it will come out sometime next year apparently.
    So this Yanyi book about Yaoming probably will never get translated and published in the USA, which is a shame, coz it's a cracking good read.
    I remeber one part in the book about after end of last season, CD invited Yaoming for a dinner, and asked Yao which Rockets teammates he didn't like and would like to get rid off, Yao refused to give an answer. Then CD asked him which ones he did like, then Yao said SF3and CM5.
    Also, the Reebok deal that Yao signed is apparently only worth 40% of the amount that Nike offered him (in the 2nd offer). But Yao decided for a matter of principle he would go with Reebok. The Nike deal would have been worth as much as Lebron James' deal plus 2/3 of Kobe's deal add together!!
