"We'll roll into the playoffs with AJ80 and Kevin Walters as the second option. Yeah, that sounds good. Looks even better on paper." - ricky smits
I guess replacing a functional player with an over-the-hill cheap one is "gutsy' in the sense that it's gutsy to just hope and pray for a miracle, but I don't think that's the kind of gutsy the other poster was referring to. Same with simply overpaying an old guy. These are low-risk, low-reward moves. I think the other poster was pushing for high-risk, high-reward (Osweiller and Watson fit that definition, certainly).
I'm not sure I get the difference but okay. You could argue that Ed Reed was a high-risk high-reward but you could argue it isn't.
Per the Draft Capital He destroyed it. I am honestly amazed by the contributions from the group. He also is responsible for the transformation of the special teams. Props BG.

Brian Gaine, Texans Brian Gaine was hired to be coach Bill O’Brien’s friend as much as anything else. The Texans had grown weary of O’Brien butting heads with ex-GM Rick Smith. It was mission accomplished in Year 1, with Gaine nabbing Tyrann Mathieu in free agency before overseeing a picks-poor draft. Despite having zero selections across the first 67 slots, Gaine still managed to come away with starting safety Justin Reid at No. 68. Some of Gaine’s other gambits — like throwing money at the second tier of free agent offensive linemen and hoping something sticks — were less successful. None of Zach Fulton, Senio Kelemete and Seantrel Henderson were an asset. Gaine had more to work with this spring, using top-55 picks on a pair of tackles and a cornerback. Still mostly anonymous, it could be another year or two before Gaine establishes a real identity working alongside the domineering O’Brien. 24. Bob Quinn, Lions 25. Steve Keim, Cardinals 26. #23 is about right. He could go up or down depending on how some of the new comers do around the league. Not great... not terrible... just mediocre.
He does just make the cut for the middle tier (23 of 32) so in Texans Land that equals average, and trending up!
Are you saying Gianes is the new Morey. Lol I don't see him making any big time moves like Morey. Find another slogan please.
Oh dang another silly ash thread to talk stuff about Smith but hype and praise Gaines. Typical stuff out of Htown where the funk don't stop.
RS was a great hire. Tell me how many championships he won in over a decade? if those kinds of things matter to you.
Nah. Just spitting facts. If your argument for a good GM is winning championships then either it's not a good argument or a majority of GMs aren't good.
