Jake's going to get his chance to prove his new found batting skills are sustainable. If so, he becomes a starter for someone, someday.

It’s a laughable day when the fan base is disappointed we’re calling up a former top 100 prospect hitting .324/.379/.555 in AAA cuz he’s the third best OF prospect.

[devil’s advocate]probably because they see his dismal major league production over 250+ plate appearances[/devil’s advocate]

Personally, I have no problem with this call up.

Because Fisher should have been traded. He has no future with this team. And he has REPEATEDLY DONE NOTHING when with the big league club.

I'm fine with the move for now, but Fisher has given very few reasons to get overly excited about his Major League prospects. I hope, just like everyone else in here, that this is the call-up where he proves his mettle and shows he belongs in the big leagues. But if I'm being honest, I'm not super optimistic.

There is a spot on the 40-man (currently 39 on there) and 2 players injured that can be transferred to the 60-day, opening up 2 more spots. Tucker could be called up without affecting his status as long as he was sent back after Springer returns.

I’ve always looked at prospect development as a game of failures just like hitting the ball.

I tend to be more pleasantly surprised when they succeed rather than disappointed when they underperform. Typically only the grade A prospects start crushing it right away and even then Bregman struggled out of the fate and KTuck outright stunk.

Fisher i lump in the Domingo Santana category: give him enough time and he’ll have some periods where he looks fantastic and periods where he’s awful. He’s a big league player though.

Sure spot on post. 100%. Even having doubts it’s the smart play long term.

Curious to see how his bat looks against MLB pitching this go round. He's been terribly overmatched against fastballs and shown no ability to recognize breaking balls in the past.

I haven't paid enough attention to him at RR to know if he's made any significant changes or what.

He could be a AAAA guy or he could be a regular that just needs more time to adjust than he’s been given. 250 mlb plate appearances isn’t a ton. I hope he gets 100 AB’s between now and July and gets a chance at seeing if he’s adjusted and ready.
If he’s going to get 100 AB’s in that time period he’d be best off having a good first couple games as I’d guess his rope is pretty short.

I've never been a big fan of Fisher, even before he struggled in the majors. Despite having great speed he never seems to make great use of it (and he has a teammate in AAA who is even faster if we're talking pinch running). He's a high K player and a mediocre fielder with a poor arm so his value is almost entirely tied to being a productive hitter. His huge spike in K rate at the major league level is particularly alarming, he just looked completely over matched by MLB pitchers.

Still, I get it. We have some financial reasons for not calling up our more high profile prospects, and he's been great so far this season at RR. It's worth giving him a look to see if we have something before he goes the way of AJ Reed.

He scored the winning run in a World Series game, so I am grateful...

...but Alvarez and Tucket will not be starting yet, and sticking them on the bench would be detrimental to their development
