I wasn't really paying attention too much. But I heard Boston was interested in Taylor in a multiplayer package. I know they also said that some team was hungry for Cato but the Rockets weren't ready to deal him yet. Anyone know what team it was that wanted Cato? I've been pleased with both of these guys performances, but would of course be all for any trade that would make this team better.

i heard the rockets are interested in trading taylor/cato strictly for cap relief....i will be extremely pissed if they give either of them away for nothing...we need both of them to have any chance at the playoffs....

I posted earlier with the espn inside article. The only trading pieces Boston has left are basically Chris Mills and Mihm. Both of them have expiring contracts equal to either MoT or Cato.

man i know MoT's contract isn't great but come on....there are a lot worse contracts out there and MoT is becoming an integral part of our team.

Harrington and Pollard would be great, but i doubt indiana would do that. Maybe if we threw Boki or Cat Indiana would bite on a deal. If throwing in Cat is a lil too much for us maybe we could ask for tinsley, but i think tinsley is starting now. If we got rid of Cat we could move JJ to the 2 and harrington would be the 3. I think a trade could be worked out but it all depends on if indiana is willing to depart with harrington. A deal would make sense for Both sides in my opinion. Indiana would have to move Artest back to the 3 where he played last year and cat could play the two or come of the bench for them. Cat would also make an excellent replacement for Reggie when he retires. Indiana would still have a good or even better defensive lineup with Cat and Cato in the starting line up. I think its a good deal for us even if we dont get tinsley. We would shed catos contract and have a solid player in Harrington at the 3. Im not sure about pollards contract, he is probably overpaid since he came from the kings but it cant be worst then Catos.

Never fear - we are barely below the luxury tax threshold, because of the Rice trade.

Boston wants to deal and they're desperate for a 4. They are calling all over the league trying to move Mills' expiring contract. Problem is, they want draft picks, and we're too short on them to offer any.

I don't know why we'd trade one of our top 6 players for nothing in the middle of a playoff run, though. There won't be any deals with Boston.

Cap relief? Not sure where you "heard" this, but it sounds pretty bogus.

In order to do this the Rockets would have to bring in $16m of expiring contracts in exchange for both Mo T and Cato. Then as soon as the incoming contracts expired (by way of the Rockets renouncing them and losing the Bird Rights to re-sign them), the Rockets lose every bit of their $6.99m trade exception (the Rox can't have both $8m in cap space and the TE). Any incoming contract which does not expire this summer decreases the $8m in cap space.

In addition, that leaves the Rockets with exactly 8 2004-05 contracts and every team must make at least 1 player available to the Charlotte Bobcats. They have the choice of Adrian Griffin, Boki or Spoon - 2 seasons @ $12.3m. Consequently, the Rockets may have to re-roster the team from 7 back to 12 players with only $8m to do it (no MLE if you drop below the cap). Best case if CHAR takes no Rockets is 4 roster spots with the $8m cap space.

Again, not sure where you "heard" this but it sounds like pure BS.

    JBC -
Not sure what your point was/is, but for the record...

If there is an LTax and if it hits at $55m, the Rockets are currently under by $3.6m
