874 to 872. If Steve hasn't missed that one game, Yao would be the Rockets scoring leader.

Yeah, I know...just another way that Steve is selfish, right? :D

of course, that's assuming that Steve would have gone scoreless against Phoenix....

I'm not trying to make the case that Steve is selfish, but since when is total points a determining factor of selfishness?

Field goal percentage, field goal percentage, field goal percentage...

Steve has taken 147 more shots than Yao, despite playing one fewer game. Taking in to consideration that fact, Yao STILL has made 22 more shots than Steve.

I think Steve is not selfish. He just need some time to change
his style. It is not an easy thing.

I guess he is just not smart enough sometimes (or most times?). I wish Steve can work it out better and better in the remaining 30 gams, then Rockets may give us a surprise in the play-off. It won't be amazing for me they go to the second run once we have a chance. Who knows? Dare you even imagine the coach is JVG, who took the NY from 8th to Finals? ;)

Which explains why the Rockets are 6th in the west, and poised for their first playoff series in FIVE years :D

Very interesting stats. Both SF and Cm have taken more shots than Yao, and JJ is only 50 some shots behind. This just proves how efficient Yao is with the ball. Just imagine if he took 18-20 shots a game...

Steve and Yao are actually equal in shots per minute. Steve has outplayed Yao by 364 minutes this year which is a mind boggling 7 games.

And when you consider their %'s, the coach's desire, and the principles of the game of basketball...should they be even?

Yes, your big man should be able to play more minutes.

Come on, serious question. Yao generates more fouls/fga, shoots a much higher %, and the coach wants to go inside-out. And Steve takes as many shots/min as Yao. Should he?

Frankly, I would have chalked Steve's greater fga's to mins alone, and would have guessed that, when on the floor, Yao took more shots. I am surprised/dissapointed that it's even.

If Steve could shoot better from the free throw line, this wouldn't be as close as it is.

I'm not going to go through it right now, but I would be willing to bet that Yao has taken more shots per minute than Steve as the season has progresssed.

Actually, if Yao played the same number of minutes that Francis played this season, he'd still be down about 20 attempts.

And really, considering that Yao's blowing the crap out of Francis in terms of points per minute (0.51 vs. 0.42), shouldn't Yao be shooting *more*?

If I had a portfolio with equal balance between two assets, but one was out-performing the other... I sure as hell would rebalance.

Yao's superior efficiency isn't new. Everyone knows it. Rudy T - the classic "milk it until it's dry" offensive coach - wrote "30 touches for Yao" on his board every game.

When Yao's on the court, he needs to be fed as much as Shaq. Honestly, it shouldn't even be as hard - you can feed Yao high post, off the PNR, cutting in the lane. He is far from just a dump it in guy.

He, his teammates, and his coaches are getting there... it just feels like a John Woo slow-mo shot.

Yes, and when it didn't happen, it was because Rudy T, lover of the SF/CM iso, 'failed to reel in the guards'. It would appear Gundy is having a little trouble reeling them in himself.
