They should have a commercial where shaq is too small to get on the ride due to the height limit, but Yao get's on.
Thanks guys, I appreciate your input because as Logos pointed out I do have a lot of extra time on my hands, unfortunately writing things that I think are funny and acceptable is my job AND hobby! YETTI- as DC informed, the character isn't stealing the groceries, but is too lazy to finish shopping and elects to take THEIR groceries it the checkout counter instead. PGIMP and PhiSlam- Funny stuff! ROX- I feel you brother, I guess we can always just amuse ourselves here! In his defense, he's pretty busy and has made attempts to get our input, whether our ideas are deemed acceptable or not is a different story.
thanks for the info, bro. that really helps, bro. but now i know who i can laugh at from now on, bro. anyway....has anyone seen the new espn commercial advertising the nba coming to espn? i was kind of disappointed with it. no classic sportcenter comedy, but i loved david sterns cameo... ..for a commercial, how bout yao goes to a car dealer looking for a midsize, but realizes its too small, so u see his head sticking through the sunroof. ahhhhhh, i can smell lawsuit. -or- how about yao dressed up as a pimp, and stevie and moT show him around the 'hood, if houston as one (westbury doesnt really count)...
I dunno...to me it lacks the punch of a really good ad that mixes comedy and energy to inspire the masses to action (i.e. support the team)....those billboards that have popped up around town, they seem to be just the right mix of comedy and energy with a big ole headshot of moochie (fro and all) and imploring the fans to be a part of something "big". Of course my fav would have to be the one of Cat who coincidentally happens to be pointing toward the new arena being built. They're just simple, yet powerful...comical, yet energetic...if they come up w/ a tv ad along those lines they'll definitely be heading in the right direction (a step up from the existing ones at the very least)
unfortunately, i havent seen any ads from last year or this year--i dont even have a chance to see the billboards . god i hate alabama. stupid existence!!!
Why don't you have it be Eddie's shopping cart, then Eddie hits him! Very creative, I kinda like it. Any particular reason you picked Mobley and Yao instead of Yao/Francis or Francis/Mobley?
<blockquote><hr>Originally posted by A-Train I'd be pretty concerned if I saw Yao and Cuttino shopping for groceries together... <hr></blockquote> Well, we could sell a lot of tickets if we did a commercial of Boki and Cuttino shopping at the Montrose Blvd Krogers. We could stand to have more of those rabid Comets fans, anyhow. This commercial would have Cuttino trying to show Boki the ropes of shopping, but they get stuck being stalked by guys with big smiles on their faces. I mean, Cuttino is one sexy, dude. Then they show slow motion of Boki and Cat making awesome moves to avoid contact in the grocery aisles, as they cut to Game Action highlights of Boki and Cat driving to the basket through big, sweaty men. Return to Krogers as they finally make it to checkout counter with no personal fouls, but a long line of shoppers in their lane. V/O saying Join the Rockets Fun, but no flopping in the lane, please.
Steve is sitting in a fastfood restaurant, this elderly lady dressed in joggers gear looks over a Steve and starts to taunt. She walks over to Steve, slams a piece of paper with a number on it on his table and says to Steve..."Bring it" Steve bewildered, looks outside and can see a banner that says, 'Grandmother's 20k' and a large group or elderly ladies taunting Steve from a distance. Steve looks directly in the camera like, "What the hec?" CUT TO "Fast Break" Video Package CUT TO Steve moments later with his runners number on, running and gasping for air. The elderly lady predictibly runs past him, still taunting. Steve stops bends over holding his shorts, John Stockton bends over right next to him and gasps, "They'll wear you out!" Steve reacts to the camera again. OUT TAG "Houston Rocket's Basketball....for when you need to run.
Something got me thinking about this thread, and I decided to have a go... Like the initial idea. I'd suggest a prison break/Sidney Poitier/Tony Curtis take off, but with the recent events which are painting us as Portand Jr., I'll go another way. How about this.... Set: Outdoor park court, summer day, pretty empty... Steve and Cat are playing one on one. As they are playing, they keep knocking back the H2O. Trash talking each other, and making HORSE shots, etc. More and more water being downed. Steve goes to use the park's facilities...Out Of Service. Looks around, heads into a bush...amorous coouple. Heads behind another tree, meditating hippie type. Increasingly desperate Steve crwling through underbrush, runs into a Boys Scout troupe working on their badges. Runs into a walkway tunnel, comes out other end with a nun chasing him. Sees what looks like an out house, quickly ducks in, emerges with foot stuck in a can, paint smeared on his clothes, and a janitor shakes his fist at his back. Starting to do the dance, you know, 'the Dance', Steve is scrambling around the park, and he is covered in twigs, leaves, paint etc. from his search...sees a far off port-a potty. CUT TO FAst Break footage. CUT TO As Steve scampers towards outhouse, someone comes out, Steve looks relieved. Then, camera pulls back, and at the same distance from the potty on the other side is Cuttino, also covered in paint, twigs, etc. OUT TAG... Houston Rockets. For when you need to run...
I was wondering why AB was resurrecting this old (and great, if I might add) idea from the dead, but I guess it was you, Macbeth. Couldn't you have just started a new thread and linked this one? I guarantee people are going to respond to earlier posts in this thread...
Should have clarified, that it is obvious that Cat an Steve are heading towards the same potty. Both see each other, and react before the cut.
Sorry, didn't think about a new thread. Just sort of felt the urge, as it were. And if people respond to old ideas, cool, we're spitballin' here...
MacBeth, Nice take on the commercial. Good stuff. It reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where Kramer runs around NYC trying to find a restroom to use... I think he ended up in Central Park.
I think it's pretty cool to see this old thread after seeing the Yao and Cat grocery store commercial at the Rockets game last night. AB, did you get reimbursed for your idea? B
AB, I really liked your initial idea in the post, and I think the favorite idea I've read of yours was one in another thread showing various Rockets at the Opera, young kids soccer games, school plays etc. Then it said, 'Houston we always support you...' I'm paraphrasing your old idea, but it was a great one. P.S. what software are you using to write your scripts on? If you don't have one please e-mail me. If you do have one let me know what you use and how you like it, if you have the time or inclination. Thanks, FB
