OK, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, and I hope I'm wrong, but I just watched/listened to the 30 minute program on ESPN, and they didn't even mention the Rockets' game, much less show highlights. I understand the Wizards aren't that great, but not to even mention the score??? Ridiculous. Someone please tell me I'm wrong or that there's a logical explanation for this.
RM95, you are not wrong. I watched it last night and was wondering if they were gonna list one of Cato's dunks/via alley oop, as a dunk nominee, but they never even showed a Rockets highlight. They didn't even mentioned the game. I think the show was edited because before it came on, they said they were going to talk about the trade deadline, and they never mentioned that in the show either. Just wait until we get into the playoffs, then we will get the respect we deserve.
They didn't show it, but showed a little bit of highlight ( 30 seconds) on Sportscenter. Rockets get a lot of National TV coverage on TNT, ESPN etc. but not on friggin NBA Fastbreak??
I was watching it last night and I didn't see any highlights either. Not even when they did the dunks of the night. There was a quick mention of the final score but that was about it. No luv...
Yup same here, they showed no love what so ever. We have some of the most exciting players, but they never mention sh*t.
I noticed that, too. Sportscenter had an entire 5 seconds dedicated to the Rockets victory, and a Cato dunk as they went to commercial...
To be fair, The game was pretty much a non-event. One of the teams didn't even show up and no one on our team was on the floor long enough to have any notable stats.
They are too busy with the spats between shaq, kobe and phil, or a king aged of 19 Seriously, I catch a very short moment of rockets game in fastbreak, they are joking of what the wisard is doing. We are most noticed when playing against laker now. Hopefully we will be respected when we win the champion in a couple of years. -Littlefish
The Rockets get no respect from the media? To put this in perspective . . . The Rockets have 22 or so nationally televised games this season, third or fourth most in the NBA. Shaq/Yao is hyped like a pay-per-vew boxing match. There was just a lengthy feature on ESPN Page 2 where Ralph Wiley was openly drooling on Yao Ming. They have two players starting in the All-Star game. Not bad for a team that's missed the playoffs the past four years.
lebroncenter got around to showing a 5 second clip of the rockets game? i stand corrected, espn cannot live with their head up lebrons ass all day, they do need some fresh air every now and then.
It's all about TV rating. Yao has certainly generated a lot of nationwide interest in this Rockets team but until we win anything, don't expect to get any respect from these so-called bball experts.
I watched some of NBA fastbreak (I think it was fastbreak) during the game on ESPN 2. They did show some Rocket highlights and even some of the game while in progress.
I like how they have guys who were average players in the NBA criticizing GREAT players in the league now (greg Anthony???? Tim Legler????). What room do they have to talk.. for some reason its become popular to be extremely harsh when talking about a player and you must scream on camera as much as possible. Thank you Michael Irvin.....
I agree. We get plenty of attention. Especially because of Yao. Sometimes I think we sell more tickets on the road than we do at home. Anyone notice the empty seats at the Toyota Center? Another issue is that we are just an above average team. We have yet to prove we are an "elite team" and wont until we prove it in the play-offs. There are plenty of other teams that ESPN has to cover that have near identical records as ours. We are just one of those teams (too) in the crowd to them.
Hell yeah RM95, I noticed that too and was pretty irrate about it. I definitely wanted to see highlights of us spanking the Wiz. Pretty pissed that I wasted 30 minutes to see perhaps a few seconds of Rox coverage, and didn't even get that. Outrage!!
U mean like when they were on the cover of Sports Illustrated last year? Oh okay, just checking... (Spurs of course...haha) (ps: The Rockets had a 2 page article in the latest SI too...)
Is it really worth getting mad about? Does it add more Ls in the loss column or something? Who cares.
