Take that New York. That's what you get when you trade away your greatest player. Thats' what happens when you forget about loyalty. You can't win in the playoffs without a low post presence, and the Knicks traded that to Seattle. More than that, they traded away the franchise icon.

I feel sorry for some of the New York players, but not for the organization. They would have contended for the title with Patrick manning the middle, but instead they were first round fodder. Well deserved was this loss.

I feel really bad for Sprewell. He had a great game, and was once again gracious in defeat.

Yeah, Spreewell is pretty much the only Knick I feel sorry for, maybe Camby as well. The organization, however, deserves the loss. They should never have even considered trading Ewing.

I think ZRB was on the "Keep Hakeem at all Costs" side during the "Trade Hakeem" days.

For some reason, I don't feel much sympathy for Sprewell. Can't imagine why that is. [IMG]

I feel bad for Mark Jackson. Gotta be tough when the team who traded you at midseason upsets you in the first round. Plus, he made the finals last year with Indy and went deep into the playoffs many years before.

But, I am glad the Knicks loss...I've really disliked them for a while now. That cocky team w/ Starks on it that the Rocks beat in the finals is what I always see when thinking of the Knicks. Toronto and Philly should be a good series.

Me? Anti-Hakeem??? Oh HELL NO! I was Pro-Hakeem all the way, and always will be. I don't know how in hell you got me confused with a "Hakeem-Trader".

My apologies, ZRB. Do you mean "Hakeem-Trader" or "Hakeem-Traitor"

I too think it's sad that NY traded Ewing, but it seemed like everyone involved didn't want Ewing with NY any longer, including the fans, sad to say. Ewing is not worth what he's being paid, and if he's not willing to take a salary cut as Hakeem will have to, I'd be reluctant to keep him as well. I also disagree that the loss of Ewing significantly hurt NY much. No, they didn't get s*** for him, but look how much he's done in Seattle.

Still, I'm not sorry for them. They deservedly lost that game. I had to root for them because my roommate is a Knicks fan, but that 4th quarter was disgusting.

Little sorrow for Jackson. I believe he spurned the Pacers to sign with Toronto and the rest...as they say, is history.

After the PJ incident, I didn't think I could EVER have positive feelings about Sprewell, but I must honestly say he was one of the few Knicks who hustled and was gracious in defeat.

I will severely limit any Knick sympathies as they now become a prime competitor for Webber. Or did the Knicks lackluster showing send CWebb a message?

Mark Jackson didn't spurn the Pacers. The Pacers said they were going in "another direciton" and wouldn't re-sign him even though he wanted to stay.

Respectfully disagree. The Pacers' desire to "go in a different direction" was a response to Jackson wanting a long-term contract.

I am not the only one who thinks Jackson did the "spurning":

Knicks deserve to lose, after all the favourable treatment from referees in the past. I don't blame them for trading Ewing. Ewing had his fair share of money, fame and chicks from NY. And he looks ugly.

    I meant "pro-trading-Hakeem".

KD- I disagree with you, but what does his appearance have to do with anything?

He did poorly in Seattle because he simply didn't fit in with the team. He did fit in with New York. 11-9 and a low post presence would have done wonders for New York in the center-deprived eastern conference.

The Knicks got rid of Ewing because they said he didn't fit in with what they were trying to do. Yeah right. If that was the case, then what was with that horrendous half-court offense they were running all year? They didn't do anything to become a run-&-gun team like they always said they were without Ewing. They kept using that horrible offense designed for a low post player. With Ewing there, it could have worked. Also, keep in mind that at the time of the trade, Ewing was a 15-10 player. That seems pretty deserving of the big bucks these days.

The Knicks forgot about loyalty, and they deserved this loss.

Spurned was a bad way for AllSports to put it because the Pacers made it clear that Travis Best was going to be their starting PG. The Pacers themselves basically said they wanted to get younger. Besides if you talk spurned, didn't the Pacers spurn Mark Jackson by trading him away when they originally had him?

There was an article a few months ago on how Ewing is not a great player. One of the things mentioned was Ewing doesn't seem to enjoy the game of basketball. By saying he is ugly, I actually mean he is not a player I enjoy watching on the court. I don't dislike Ewing; I am just not liking him (sounds weird?). He looks like a guy playing for pay. Rumors of him womanizing also make me feel that he is not different from an icon in NBA Live 2001. NY had paid him much better than Houston paid Hakeem, or Spurs paid Robinson. Therefore, I won't pity him if he retires ringless.

I don't want Vince Carter to win too much either. I like Sprewell; too bad he is in NY. NY is evil.

I read that very same article, and I completely disagree with it. I've seen the way Patrick plays the game, and winning was always important to him. He deserves a ring. Unfortunately, he never had the right supporting cast.
