The likely consequence of making John Bolton the National Security Advisor now runs the risk of becoming a reality. NYT: White House Reviews Military Plans Against Iran, in Echoes of Iraq War NYT: Skeptical U.S. Allies Resist Trump’s New Claims of Threats From Iran I will give President Trump credit for this: he has been unwilling to engage the United States in prolonged, deadly Middle East conflict that neo-cons like Bolton continue to lust after. These people learned nothing from the disastrous Iraq War, which made it surprising that President Trump made him NSA. This is a situation worth monitoring.
We should have stayed in the Iran deal, this is a direct consequence of that. But I hope the president stays strong on this and I agree 100% we need to stay the hell out of the Middle East.
My guess is Trump has outsourced so much power to Bolton and Pompeo that he has no real idea of what they are so blatantly trying to do here. What’s obvious is they are trying to make a dramatic “we need to defend ourselves” case to Trump with a big moment above anyone else. Doubt they care about shaping public as much as they are trying to play Trump who I personally don’t think wants war with Iran. But he’ll do it if he is told by Fox N Friends that it’s a good idea. I just hope the real journalists report on this correctly instead of playing up the war threat like they did with Iraq. If the MSM reports the intel correctly and asks the right questions, I think this will destroy the Trump presidency if they deploy troops.
A war with Iran would be a disaster with long term consequences. We already have expended incredible resources/time/energy on war with Iraq and Afghanistan, and proxy wars with Russia and China. We would be looking at almost 2 decades of some sort of war. I know Trump believes he knows best, but I really hope we stay out of it..... I don't think it would be very popular at home either.
Amazing that the very stable genius -- the one who appointed mr-end-times Pompeo light-em-up Bolton -- is all that really stands between us and another, terrible war decision.
It's one of the few campaign promises (less foreign intervention) I hope Trump stands by. Please for the love of God Trump do not listen to the mustache man. He's bad juju Donald.
My standard for starting/getting involved in wars has ratcheted up far past some maritime terrorism in the straights of Hormuz. If it gets there, perhaps something limited like some airstrikes or something.
9/11 Truther: To go to war with Iraq a massive attack on US soil was required -- Iran will require something even more extreme. Iran: Puts missiles on a boat, maybe. US: Aircraft carrier and 120,000 troops incoming.
Do you all realize that there are several Iranian owners of strip clubs infused in Houston that profit, and yet they hate America ****’em!
