The baker sounds like Ernie aka Jim Henson.

This wasn't really a song that gets stuck in your head but this was a memorable skit and one that scared the **** out of kids...

Obviously it was Jim Henson. This is before the Muppet Show.

That was Electric Company, still great.

Schoolhouse Rock was not Sesame Street either, still great.

Well yeah but was that actually Henson playing the baker or just some random dude that was playing the baker with Henson doing the voiceover? Okay, never mind - found this:
After the segment's number was announced, several human characters, ranging from jugglers to professors, would present that number with various objects. Finally, a baker melodically announced that segment's number of desserts, and fell down a flight of stairs. Jim Henson dubbed the voice of the baker, while stuntman Alex Stevens played the character on screen.

This was a close second to the pinball machine.

    WOW!

I would never have recalled my memory of that until you posted that clip! I remember laughing my ass off at that when I was a very young kid.

It's a good thing that the little girl remembered. Unfortunately, while walking home by herself, she was abducted and sold into the sex slave trade, being moved from whorehouse to whorehouse all along the gulf coast. Her mother forever felt the sting of guilt for sending her toddler to the store by herself. After years of alcohol-fueled depression and never seeing her daughter again, she put the gun to her head.
....all for a loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter.

I used to have a red-headed co-worker. I'd send this to everyone else we worked with. I haven't spoken to him in a while...
