As a professional athlete who's #1 goal is supposed to be to win it all, and given the 5yr track record of playoff failures, I would expect him to take the loss a little more personal, that is all.

They don't, but there is an extremely strange culture of feeling obligated to act like they do and gossiping about people who don't. From a content consumption perspective, Americans are disproportionately obsessed with travel-related content compared to Western European counterparts whereas on surveys American youth don't list it in their favorite content. There is some sort of shame associated with it. Strange, but a little historical digging reveals a lot. That's for another board though.
