We should consider switching Gordon and CP3

Of course , this is pre any roster moves we make .... which I'm sure there will be plenty of

We should consider making CP3 the 6th man and Gordon the starter . We kind of already do this by staggering James and CP3's mins , but I think Gordon is a better fit next to James .

Furthermore this allows us to limit CP3's minutes even more. It places a bigger , more physical guard next to James . And it gives James a natural spot up shooter to work with .

Now Eric isn't a paragon of health and so his minutes will have to be limited too . Hopefully we can resign rivers and have a nice 4 guard rotation with CP3 getting some planned off days .

Of course , another direction is leaving CP3 in the starting lineup and having James play off ball more . But this also increases our reliance on CP3 during the regular season which is a dicey proposition.

Our small starting lineup cannot be our starting group next year . I know they are our best 5 ... but playing small all year is just asking to have rebounding problems and getting worn down .

I don't know if Clark or house are ready to take the starting SF job , but they are our best in-house options at this point

Obviously it depends on who we bring in , but I think there's an argument to make for bubble-wrapping CP3 during the regular season . Look at how he played in game 6 , the one game he played well . It was because he was playing like a bowling ball , just ramming his body into people.

CP3 had a really down season overall at this point . Whether it's his body , his skills , or something else .... we need to do a better job of putting him in a position to succeed . He's looked his best while running a second unit . Let's limit his responsibility a bit and make that his primary goal next year . If he gets comfortable and starts playing well , then you can expand what you ask him to do .

We've got to find a way to limit what's on cp's and James' plates .... especially during the regular season . During the playoffs **** breaks down and you often have to rely on guys beating their man 1 on 1 . But , let's not make our main guys do that the whole season

I wouldn’t be opposed to this if Morey could get a legit starting caliber SF who is capable of playmaking, but I’m not holding my breath that he’ll be able to do that

CP0 with 25 mpg off the bench which is ridiculous given his contract, but it is what it is

its not the worst idea but you still have to find a legitimate wing to be put in the lineup. And no guys like house do not qualify as such.

This also make rivers useless basically. he definitely won't be itching to return in some 7/8th man role, so you lose that depth pretty much. the best backup guard they've had in this rockets era

Here is my thinking . No matter how you play CP3 he isn't going to bring 35-40 mil in value in terms of wins during the regular season .

So I wouldn't worry about milking the value out of his contract .... he's overpaid .

Where he can still help you is if he ups his game in the playoffs .

So IMO whatever role helps put him in a position to do that is what I would go with .

I'd rather he play 65 games with 25 min off the bench and then be ready to give us 25 great min in the playoffs than....try to start , get hurt , and play 35 mediocre mins in the playoffs .

Obviously the situation isn't black and white like that . But I think limiting his role during the regular season could help him be in a better spot . Plus , it's not like he can't do cardio on his own .

Rockets need to move both of them.

Gordan has value with Clint despite the latter's poor performance. CP has less trade value despite being a better talent for obvious reasons.

    He definitely did .

But he really came to play all playoffs .

Even when he couldn't make a shot , his defense was excellent .

    CP3 had a mediocre season too .

I dunno man , I'm just spitballing out here lol

Again I have to wait and see what upgrades they intend to get without owning good assets.

He did well against Klay for sure.

There is always the chance of Chris saying I am too good for this ish role, I quit like Melo did in OKC the first time. Takes time to adjust.

it’s mainly just the thought that we’re paying somebody max money to be our backup PG...that is a huge L for Morey, an epic fail type signing...there’s nothing that can be done about it now, but damn

we’ll see, this would all depend on what type of player Morey could bring in to be the 3

we’ll have to hope CP3 is like Wade and willing to accept a bench role no problem...I could roll with a change like this tho

CP will be quite the expensive 6th BUT........ I’m totally liking this move!! I’d be all in for CP coming off the bench. He isn’t a starter in this league anymore

I mean he's either an expensive starter or an expensive 6th man

its all about placing him the position where he can best help the team

I agree, I just can’t shake those disappointing thoughts of us having a max player being a bench guy for us...that’s just me personally tho
