I dont like a coach that will stick with the player in an important game, even when he is clearly struggling AND hurting the team.

Mike was stubborn regarding Clint and it cost the team dearly.

Also, ask Knicks fans how they feel about Pat Riley and John Starks in Game 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals.

He can’t be that stupid. He just cannot be.

    Good lord.

MDA is right. The Warriors took away the lob and shots at the rim. What was needed was a big that could consistently pop out at about 18-20 feet and sink a mid-range. Houston has none of those and all other options are Capela-lite. I too will prefer to go with the real Capela in this situation than the poor's man version.

What's wrong with a coach protecting a player instead of throwing him under the bus?

I'm not much for public lynching.

Exactly. Capella can then slide to the 4. The Rockets can then implement a version of double-drag where Dedmon pops out to the three point line and capella rolls to the basket. With James Harden going downhill, it would be near-unstoppable. Also, Dedmon is UFA this offseason. Guess it's time to see if Tilman really cares.

What do you want the coach to say to the media? Throw his player under the bus and say he sucked and he will be terrible from now on?

What coaches and players say to the media anyway is PR bullcrap anyway and it doesn't mean that's what the franchise really believes.

The Rockets really need a Aaron Gordon of the Magic. A 6'8 leaper, is very strong, way stronger than Capela, can definitely set a strong pick for Harden, not a weak pick, Capela weakness on Rebounding, Aaron muscle Rebounds, a Surprising 3 point Shooter from the corner, excellent dribbler, crossover, create, drive to the basket, midrange, excellent alley oop dunker.

Aaron Gordon skills against Draymond is a necessity. Draymond exposes taller, flawed Centers
I want Draymond to work on the perimeter, not rest in the paint on defense, Draymond was resting against Capela, he hardly moved laterally on defense, What happens when a Aaron Gordon faces Draymond, Aaron Gordon stretches the floor, create, dribble, Draymond will get tired in the 4th having to guard a skilled 6'8 strong Forward, with so much skills.

Clint Capela and Aaron Gordon have the same type of money in their contracts $80 million.
    Both around 25 years old.

The Rockets need Aaron Gordon, at least upgrade the Small Ball Center at least.

I'm sure Capela will bounce back.

I'm just not sure it's feasible anymore to have a C who can't shoot the 3. The ability to bring the other team's C out to the perimeter is huge, and it showed in the +/- numbers when we went with PJ at C. The league is trending in that direction and it sickens me that we went from being pioneers of the NBA to just adopting what others have already succeeded with. That's part of the reason we have people still whining about midrange here like it's 1992. Our identity as pioneers has diminished. This slow pace iso thing was a great idea, but the holes in it have gotten larger. We need a way to protect ourselves when it doesn't work, and it has to be something that doesn't really cost money.

The one thing that has never changed in the NBA is that teams who move well off the ball offensively and defensively are able to outperform the talent on the roster. That's a decades old thing and it's been through multiple eras and rule changes and talent shifts and all that. What the Warriors do when KD is not iso'ing. It's what the Bucks do when Giannis is not iso'ing. It's what the Spurs have always done unless Ginobody was having a good game.

It should be what the Rockets do when Harden is off the ball, and it should be something Harden is involved with too. It's statistically effective, it's less tiresome, it's necessary. It insures against injury, it insures against cold streaks.

We are a brilliant, dynamic, well-oiled defensive machine when we don't have defensive losers on the floor. Now time to upgrade the offense. We have two elite playmakers on the floor at the same time, so as long as we add a front court player who can distribute from the high post (I wish Batum wasn't so overpaid) we would be in great shape.

So jealous of the Bucks: Mirotic, Ilyasova and Lopez. If we swapped Capela and Faried for Lopez and one of those forwards, we would've won this series easily.

Capela would be on a vet min if he wasn't playing alongside Harden.

Heck, Harden even made Asik look like an all-star and got him that huge contract. Where is Asik now?

MDA cost us the series by playing Clint and Gerald Green during critical moments

After 5 seasons, still offensively limited (no post game and no jumpshot) and defensively deficient (cant box out for his life). but MDA thinks he has a bright future

No. James Harden cost us the series when he completely stopped competing game 5. Let's not forget, ONE shot in the last 7 minutes of a game w/ KD hurt. This is a guy who can get stepbacks off on anybody

MDA does not seem to think much of it.
