if we don't get CWebb, would it be ok if we just sit tight and wait 'til next year?

maybe we can get marc jackson, LaFrentz, Robinson, etc. plus our 1st rounders this year, and next year, go after Carter, Pierce, Jamison? If we don't waste our cap space this year, wouldn't we have even more space next year, with Walt coming off our books, and with an expanded salary cap?

There is danger in stagnation, and no guarantee we could pry anyone of those players from their teams. This is the season the Rockets have planned for, and it is far more likely that the Rockets would be succesful this year than waiting for next year.

A lot can happen in 365 days.

The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe.

Well, if Webber goes elsewhere, we have Mo, Marc Jackson, JYD, other possibilities.

Watching the Kings in the playoffs is almost painful. I wanted them to lose but not like this. Still, this will prevent Chris from changing his mind and getting out of Dodge.

I know I'm being a homer, but Chris would be semi-crazy not to sign with Houston. New York has too intense a spotlight, and the team is old. In two years, Chris would be that team's next Patrick Ewing; what have you ever done for me?

But Puedlfor is correct. This is what we've been waiting for. This is the time. The chance to land such a player comes around only once in awhile.

Correction. The chance to sign such a player is practically never. But we have a real chance now.

After watching Vince Carter during the playoffs, I'd say a great case can be made that the Rockets best long-term option is to try to reel in Vince Carter next offseason and not go after Webber, who is much older than Vince and not nearly the player Carter is.

But it'd be a huge gamble. Gonna be tough to pass up Webber if he's willing to come to Houston. That makes the Rox immediate title contenders just about if Hakeem stays on board.
