Anybody else just see the Sportscenter special on this guy? I thought it was very enjoyable. For those of you who don't know about him, he was the guy who started taking John 3:16 banners to sporting events. He wore a rainbow colored wig and had an uncanny ability to make it on the camera despite the network exec's attempts to keep him away. He attended 80-100 sports events a year, and always seemed to be caught on camera doing a dance and holding up his sign, the dude even managed to set up at the exact point the Jamaican bobsled team crashed at in the 1988 Calgary Olympics. However in 1992 he held three hostages in a hotel in a last attempt to broadcast his message through the media. Even worse, after being captured he turned down a plea bargain that would have given him 12 years in prison, choosing instead to use the trial to recieve more media attention. At age 59, he is still in prison serving three consecutive life sentences.

I caught the end of that. I believe they said something like his daughter has not seen him in 24 years. Sad.

Saw it. Great, but sad, story. I read about all of that awhile back but it was interesting seeing him again.

Sad, but the guy shouldn't be let out of prison. He still sounds like he would try something else once he got out because he didn't regret taking those people hostage.

The funny part about the story was looking at the facial expresions of all of the fans that had to sit behind him during those sporting events.

    LOL!!! :D

absolutely...John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son...that whomever shall believe in him...shall hold hostages at gunpoint."

at least that's what it says in my version. ;)

I hate that this fanatic continues to achieve his dream of celebrity courtesy of ESPN.

This is the second time in the past 6 months that they've done an extended piece on this bozo.

Let him rot in jail without the infamy. Broadcast stories like this just make him happier.

It sounds to me like he'd do it again too. No way he gets out. With all these priests in trouble he'll have some company soon.
