I don't know what to think about this trade rumor, but for all of the negatives that I'm reading about Iverson, I have to disagree with alot of them. Their may not be much of a differece if Francis took more shots and all of the other stats that you guys are bringing up, but Francis is nowhere close to Iverson when it comes to playing with heart. There is not one night when you can say that Iverson didn't give it his all. With Francis, there are nights when you even wonder if he was on the court. I'm not saying that I agree with the trade rumor but I just wish that Francis played with more heart like Iverson

    from tomorrow's Chronicle

With the latest odd Steve Francis trade rumor having him go to Philadelphia for Allen Iverson, Iverson was asked about the rumor.

Before he could answer, however, Hornets guard Baron Davis, himself connected to a Francis trade rumor over the weekend, broke in to answer for him

"I think," Davis said, "Steve started that."

AI for Steve?? Trade a gun toting, practice hating, selfish, egotistical albeit talented point guard for Steve, are you nuts. CD and JVG will pass, JVG and AI would be a worse relationship than Ben and JLO. Fans of this trade can manipulate the stats to justify this trade but AI is 30, often injured, relies on his speed which will be declinining sooner rather than later. Bad trade for the Rox!! Re: Steve, JVG is as much at fault for making Steve's misdemeanor a public spectacle, he should have kept the entire matter between him and Steve. I am for giving SF a pass on the whole matter, JVG ain't perfect, he bailed on NY mid-season and wasn't banned from the NBA for life.

    Tall trade tales

With the latest Steve Francis trade rumor having the Rockets point guard going to Philadelphia for Allen Iverson, the 76ers' point guard was asked about it.

Before Iverson could answer, however, Hornets guard Baron Davis, himself connected to a Francis trade rumor over the weekend, broke in to answer for him.

"I think," Davis said, "Steve started that."

    jaja funny :)

The only way we would trade Steve for AI is to send AI to another team and wind up with, say, a player that wouldn't be worse for Van Gumby than Steve.

3 teams? Yes. AI a Rocket, no.

The NY Daily News writer shoulf have talked to Philly. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "The Sixers' president and general manager was in Los Angeles over the weekend, enjoying the all-star festivities in the midst of speculation that Iverson, his team's five-time all-star guard, would be heading to Houston for Steve Francis, the Rockets' three-time all-star guard. 'That is totally untrue,' King said last night. 'There is no credence to that whatsoever. I have talked to numerous teams on numerous occasions about numerous players on our roster. Not one time have I talked about trading Allen Iverson.' "

BTW here's a "big" point guard no one has mentioned: Reece Gaines of Orlando. He's 6-6/6-7, a solid if unspectacular PG and, having played for Rick Pitino, knows how to play fundamental D, push the ball, and accept, shall we say, a lot of coaching.

Reece Gaines has been stuck either on IR or at the end of Orlando's bench. Shammond Williams and Rod Strickland, and Lue all get PT ahead of him. Not so sure if he's going to ever to anything in this league IMO.

okay here goes...first off...i love steve francis and would hate to see him go...but....id like to start by saying anyone that things AI is a ball hog is an idiot....the reason he jacks up so many shots is cuz Phili SUX ...there horrible...he has knowone....did anyone see the assists he was putting up this summer playing for the US? or how about the fact that he barely shot the ball and had 11 assists during the all star game? AI is a team player when he has the chance to be....he just doesnt get the chance in phili...i think he could play really well with yao.....shaq/kobe comes to mind

easy to get assists when everyone can finish. thats why they are all stars, or on the olympic squad.

excuse me but wasnt steve francis playing in the same game? how many assists did he get in a far superior west team? 4!

the question of who would be better on the rockets steve or allen iverson is simple. Iverson. Experience -Heart-Drive

But I personally dont know his off court probs or whatever seem to be scary.

lets see if you get Rashweed in FA
and get Iverson in a Trade...can we say portland only twenty times worse?

4 assists in the 20 minutes that Steve played is actually pretty good. Nice try though.

I can't believe people are actually trying to judge AI's abilities to get assists based on all star game.

Are you kidding me? If there's one thing Francis can do better than just about anyone in the league, it's get to the rack at will. Best handles/quickness in the league.

I mean, we hear the now-cliche complaints about his "team play" or turnovers or whatever time and time again, but your complaint right there is just crap.

That plus Iverson is usually a worse finisher.

What about the fact that he was still jacking up that many shots when his team was in the finals?

Yes he did have assists for the U.S., and in the all-star game. I don't think people believe he isn't capable of getting assists. The question is how many shot attempts is he willing to take?
