Gee, this seems to be a common theme with republican efforts to gerrymander... entire thread is interesting.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/federal-court-shoots-down-mi-gerrymandering.298095/ Just bump this thread bro. Same issue and it would be better to talk about it as a whole
Seems its a different court ruling, involving a different state with different districts... unless you are suggesting that republicans nationwide are gerrymandering to grab or hold voting power?
Gerrymandering is gerrymandering, drawing crazy district lines to stay in power regardless of state. I think the bigger issue is federal courta taking a stand. Edit: i saw a discussion on PBS news hour after the Michigan ruling and the focus was on the courts
So many of these cases, they should have made it a class action lawsuit against the Republican party by the people of the United States. Then we could have one thread. Lemme guess, the Republican response will be to appeal and delay long enough that they have to use these same lines in the 2020 election. Then their Republican legislature will draw new lines based on the 2020 census that gerrymanders a different way and will litigate it until the 2030 census rolls around.
There is nothing unique to each case. It's just gerrymandering, the rulings are just based on the lines
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/ussc-shoots-down-nc-gerrymandering.282991/ Same difference. Gerrymandering is a very specific accusation F'ed up lines to manipulate district numbers
